I like the idea of the car cabin protective partition. It looks like the solution all Ola and Uber drivers will be using for quite some time until there's a vaccine developed.

Impressive Maruti Suzuki. Some of the accessories will be boon for cabbies.

They may want to Add AC disinfectant as well.
I wonder if the air is recirculated in the car, the positive passenger may leave something in HVAC or vents. Even if Uber/OLA offers disinfection after every ride, this risk can be taken care by AC disinfection only.

It is advisable to people travelling by shared cars or cabs to use face shield and mask.
The air direction should be away from face and better if away from body.

Question: some of the models mentioned do not have rear ac vents. If this barrier is put up then how will the rear section of the cabin be cooled? Here is Delhi it is already 44 deg Celsius plus.
The Dzire Tour model does not have rear ac vents and it is one of the cars used by cabbies.

(Sorry Leoshashi for hijacking the question)
The picture mentions varied air temperature during air conditioning.
I believe dealerships will innovate (or have workaround ) to install only the upper part.

I agree, the product itself might not be useful for most of the cabbies unless they are okay with *heat* of words from passenger OR low ratings.

Maruti's personal protective equipment (PPE) range includes QCS and Sitra labs certified 3 ply face mask, protective goggles, shoe cover, hand gloves and face shield.

Additionally, Maruti is also offering an interior cleaner and car cabin protective partition that divides the front and rear space of the car. The transparent partition is made of polyvinyl chloride and is designed to prevent droplets and dust particles without blocking the field of view.

The PPE and car care accessories range in price from Rs. 10-650 and can be ordered online on this website.

Maruti and Safety/Protection generally don't go hand in hand. Pun intended.

Wait for the sales advisors and service advisors to aggressively market this when you go to buy a new car or get your car serviced!!!

Wow, the gloves and the shoe covers are almost 2x the market price. I am sure the others have similar margins.

Edit: Face Visor seems to have been priced at prevalent market prices.

Re: Maruti launches PPE & car care accessories for Covid-19

Car cabin protective partition is a good idea. We will see lot of cabs installing these.
its a cheap solution and will be cheaper in local market.

Maruti also has launched for cars which are heavily used as cabs, like old wagonR, ertiga, celerio etc and have not launched for Swift, baleno, ciaz etc which are used as private cars mostly.

I sourced the mask from someone who sourced it from someone and i ended up paying 3 bucks a piece (for personal use), if Maruti does buy it from the seller itself or decides to manufacture it, i don't see the reason why they can't get it for ₹2 or maybe even less, the margin on these things is astronomical, its not that Maruti has the brand value of LV to charge such unjustified premium (even they shouldn't), the sheer greed and opportunistic attitude of Maruti to a lesser extent and other people related to medical field directly in a larger extent during this lockdown is just among the lowest levels of humanity.

This is exactly my thought. Without rear AC vent, the passenger will not get AC. Will they duct it to rear cabin, with HEPA filter in the air passage? It will need separate fan. Seems like tough work for such low cost. Maybe windows will have to be left open so that natural (hot) breeze takes care of comfort and ventilation.

Re: Maruti launches PPE & car care accessories for Covid-19

If I am not wrong, the cabin protection partition is not launched for any car with rear AC vent . So , this means that the rear seat passenger will not have AC . Obviously , this setup is for the use of Taxi operators . One more query is coming to my mind . Government of India had asked Maruti to build some ventilators during the lock down period . Did we hear any news about that ? .

Re: Maruti launches PPE & car care accessories for Covid-19

Wow What a sheer boost to the already hyped Covid-19, this disease is now commercialised to a great extent. Simple masks and sanitiser in the car, emphasis on personal hygiene and coughing etiquettes should suffice. World is becoming paranoid to insane levels.
