According to the company, the solar power plant was set up with an investment of Rs. 200 million. The annual output of the plant is 7,010 MWH. It is expected to offset 5,390 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually, for the next 25 years.

In 2014, Maruti Suzuki had installed a 1 MW solar power plant at Manesar. It was upgraded to 1.3 MW in 2018.

With the addition of a second solar power plant, Maruti's total solar power capacity has increased to 6.4 MW.

Re: Maruti Suzuki sets up 5 MW solar power plant in Gurgaon

This is just awesome. Full credit to MSIL for this. I hope each industrial organization with sufficient space to setup panels goes and does it in near future.

In my office I see these panels setup literally everywhere. On roofs, above car parking shades, around water tanks, AC units, absolutely everywhere. It really is the need of the hour and countries like India that get ample sunlight almost around the year, must make the most of it. The short term calculations of setup expense vis-a-vis savings shouldn't matter really as its about saving the planet for the generation to come. Not to forget, these projects also create a lot of jobs & supply chains.

Re: Maruti Suzuki sets up 5 MW solar power plant in Gurgaon

Maruti Suzuki installs Asia's largest 20 MWp solar plant at Manesar.
Quote:
Maruti Suzuki has set up a 20 MWp1 solar power plant at its Manesar facility in a bid to maximises the utilisation of renewable energy in its operations. The power plant will contribute 28,000 MWH2 annually to the group's manufacturing unit and which is equivalent to the energy required for the production of more than 67,000 units. With the addition of their latest solar plant at the Manesar facility, the company's combined solar power generation capacity is around 26.3 MWp across its plants. The expansion is aimed at reducing at least 20,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually.
