Guys, do you have a date when this change was done. I am contemplating a Aveo Base and both Sundaram and Garuda have only Jan/Feb 2007 cars in Intense Black.

Do you think it's correct to buy cars that old now that it's July-end?

Best regards,

Regarding notchy gear shift I feel it's a matter of getting used to. It's not as bad as is made out to be. I didn't have any problem with this notchy shift ever. Any gear shift, for that matter takes some time to get use to. I had problem with Farhan's (sideways) Lancer. It has short shift.

After using a GM product for three years, I must say it's GOOD for what you paid. I can go on and on but that will be outside this thread. So..
i have driven Rudra's optra and i dont think gear shift is an issue with Optra. I really like the throw and the positioning for my seat settings in that car.

Even the Aveo i test drove i dont remember any gear shift issue maybe we are becoming very choosy with finer details.

I am not too sure on the authenticity of this gear shift rectification in Aveo bcoz i have confirmed with GMI official and also 2 dealers in Delhi and they denied any such work done by GMI on gearbox.

Yes, all they say is that only instrument dials have been changed.

Honestly, i did not like these new dials ... looks like an after market fitment to give that protruding dails looks.

AVEO has been the best looker in its segment and a VFM proposition. Gear shifts was the only glitch. Now with this improved its good news for its potential buyers.

OFF TOPIC ,are there any issues with the gearshifts for the SPARK and UVA ??

Garuda Auto had brought Aveos to my office to offer test drives. They had done this twice, both before the improvement, and even post it. I had the chance to test drive the car on both occassions. The gear shift quality has definitely improved over the previous version. Earlier, you were never sure if the gear has engaged or not, and was very vague. Now, its a lot more certain.

This was observed by both me as well as my friend, and the cars we compared the gear shifts against were the City (friend's) and the Ikon (mine).
