Mercedes-AMG A 45 Confirmed For India likely to get the range topping AMG A 45 S 4Matic+ model that makes 415 bhp.

In addition to the A-Class Limousine, India will also be getting the performance hatch, Mercedes-AMG A 45. While currently the company doesn't have a clear timeline for the car, we have been told that it is certainly on the cards.

Santosh Iyer, Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Mercedes-Benz India said, For AMGs we are committed. AMGs have a good demand and I think that's again what I mentioned sometime back. The AMGs fly off the shelf. But we will bring it (AMG A 45) at the right time for sure, but not sure if it will be by the end of this year.

A45s AMG is truly admirable. 415hp from a 2.0 litre engine straight from the factory is insane for a road legal car. I recently saw a carwow drag race where it beat a BMW M5 F90 Competition Pack driven in RWD mode.

Expected to launch in the next few days, the A45 S will be imported in limited numbers.

The AMG A45 S is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine which puts out a massive 421hp and 500Nm.

Preference of our market seems to be SUV/Crossover > Sedan > Hatch. I am glad MB is bringing this car knowing too well that it may not get the kind of response it deserves. This is one hot looking car.

Glad to see German brands launching these performance cars in India. First 340i and now this.. great time for enthusiasts but doubt this will make numbers.

Pricing would be a key differentiator.

I test drove the A35, it was extremely fun to drive. The small size and AWD makes it very nimble and confident on the road. Can't imagine what this would be like with an even more powerful engine.

A35 being CKD is competitive. This will be CBU and will be over 1cr or close to it.

While it’s admirable to see Mercedes’ spirit in launching this, and wringing 400+ BHP out of a 2 liter engine, that estimated price of 75-80 lakhs is eye-watering.

We Indians have always seen hatchback as children of a lesser automotive god, and I can honestly see many plumping for M340is for about the same or a bit less, or deciding that the M2 isn’t that bad a proposition either.

I thought the Cooper S was tasty, but mucho expensive. This is a different level of absurdity, price wise.

Very tempting indeed! With Mercedes getting the full fat model for India. Those numbers are nothing short of mind boggling...Those with deep pockets can enjoy it responsibly. With great power comes greater responsibility...This is no ordinary car and don't need to see it as a hatch at all. It's a 'pocket rocket' the best money can get anywhere in the world! Wish I was younger and richer to enjoy this beauty!
