Thanks @sidindica and good to see your thread after a long time.

This takes me down memory lane as this was my first car.

I've inserted some comments alongside the attachments to help you understand which year the pics. could have been taken.

The first car in this picture features a non AC 1100 cc engine and the all black rubber bumper stops - this suggests it is the year 1994.

Attachment 2027173

Bumpers with chrome & black bumper stops plus doors without quarter glasses suggest this picture was shot between 1989 and 1993.

Re: Factory & vehicle production photos from yesteryears - An archive of the Indian Automotive indus

That's a wonderful thread, and thanks for the drool worthy pictures. This one took me down the memory lane to the good old days when we had the Zen Carb.

Also, one thing that has been intriguing me for a long time and I hope it's the right thread to ask. Will a manufacturer have a separate assembly and testing line for each model they build or there are a few lines where every model of theirs get assembled?

A very nice thread, very nostalgic.

As a kid I have visited many factories and among the automobile factories it was Maruti Suzuki in Haryana, Standard factory and the Ashok Leyland factory in Chennai. This brings back memories from those factories.

The first 3 pics of the HM factory are pre 1999 and I say it cos circa 1998 is when they changed the door handles to Pull type ones, before that it was the press with your thumb (which was very annoying and difficult as a child) Chrome plated handle - Attention to detail

Tamil movie Ratchagan had a good amount of scenes shot in the Daewoo Cielo factory.

Below is one of the scenes from the movie.

I just can't express in words how good it feels to see all these machines fresh off the assembly line! These pictures bring back so many memories!
I really wish I could go back in time to witness the launch of these cars, see them in all their glory and drive them on wide open roads
Thank you @Sid for this amazing thread!

Re: Factory & vehicle production photos from yesteryears - An archive of the Indian Automotive indus

This thread is so nostalgic! I have been reading only Auto Magazines from the age of 5 and use to memorise each and every cars specification back then. We had a Premier Padmini and an uncle staying downstairs in our apartment had bought a Daewoo Matiz! I was drooling over it as a child and still remember the smell of petrol when he starts the car in the morning. I used to run to my balcony just to have peek at a refined modern car. The news of the first ever CRDi (in the budget segment) in the Hyundai Accent, the ads of Qualis Facelift, my uncle buying an Opel Corsa, my love for the S-Class and asking my dad to buy me that. Haha so much nostalgia and information in this thread. Thanks a ton @sidindica for this beautiful thread and to everyone for their wonderful contribution.

Guys, does anyone have more pictures of the Opel plant? Would be grateful if someone could share more pictures from their collection.

What a beautiful thread Sid. Really got a smile on my face after such a long time. I loved seeing all those old factory pictures. One of the forgotten yet quality threads on this forum. Appreciate the effort you've put in making these posts! Keep up the good work.

Bumping up the thread after 2 years.

BHPian 300 kmph shared these 2 pics on Instagram.

Supposedly the last Premier Padmini manufactured in the year 2000. One can see the Uno bodyshells at Kurla factory in the backdrop. The blue car was supposedly the new version that was showcased by Premier of its Padmini but it never happened.
