re: 2021 Toyota Fortuner Facelift spied undisguised in India. EDIT: Now Launched at Rs. 29.98 lakhs

G-A-R-I-S-H!!

The front bumper has way too many cuts and creases, the alloys are overstyled and that spoiler belongs on a JDM fan mod list, not on a SUV. There's ZERO design flow!

So sick of manufacturers offering hollow 'performance' versions of their existing cars with what's basically a cheapo, plasticky body kit. At least Ford stuck to making parts black before shamelessly slapping on a 'Sport' badge on the Endeavour.

Eagerly waiting for it.The Thai spec looks quite good imo.Toyota has done a good job with the facelift, while the same can't be said for the Crysta. It definitely looks more premium than before. Pricing would be crucial though.

The lower bumper and alloys look hideous to say the least.

For a 4x4 SUV, if Toyota can not remove something as basic as a mechanical rear diff lock for the Indian market in the 2021 Fortuner, then calling it TRD or whatever is worth it for the huge price tag, not by adding garish plasticky bling and stickers.

India launch is still around 3 months away if I am not wrong, this was spotted in Indonesia. Also this is not the next-gen it's just a facelift.

re: 2021 Toyota Fortuner Facelift spied undisguised in India. EDIT: Now Launched at Rs. 29.98 lakhs

I am eagerly waiting for the launch of updated fortuner in India. It is going to replace and take the 4wd duties from my 2012 Storme. After seeing so many reviews about the bad/stiff ride quality, I am a little worried.

Anybody on the forum who has the first hand experience of both Safari Storme and fortuner, please help me and shed some light on the differences in terms of ride quality on and off highways. Please help!

Regards,
Slushmaster

The Australian Fortuner has more features & still is cheaper than Indian variant by Rs 5 lakhs
Not all of this is taxes (I have worked on taxation of both countries). Toyota Bharat management should stop cribbing about the high taxes & bring the refresh model at reasonable prices IMO.

I agree Toyota India’s prices are on the higher side but one major difference is that in other countries like Australia, South Africa and Saudi Arabia there are 3 trim levels as seen in the review so each model gets a different feature set and so cost is also different. In India what we get is the Crusade equivalent where there is only one variant for us with the only difference being the transmission and drivetrain option.

I just hope seeing the response to the MG Gloster Toyota may not increase the price of the new fortuner dramatically, maximum increase should be 30-40K which include the increase in power and torque figures and the updated equipment! Hoping Toyota doesn’t get too greedy with the new one’s prices even though they knows it’s the Fortuner that will still sell more.

Also when the first gen facelift was launched price difference between new and old at the time of discontinuation of the old model was at max 40-50K of I am not wrong.

Toyota Fortuner scores 5 stars in ASEAN NCAP Tests:

Quote:
The Toyota Fortuner facelift’s crash test results were an extension of the Hilux’s results. The Fortuner was not crash tested and its ratings are based on the Hilux’s crash test assessment. According to ASEAN NCAP, the Fortuner has comparable occupant protection to the tested pickup, based on the technical evidence provided by Toyot

Well, I have a 2015 4x4 AT Fortuner and a 2015 Storme (2wd MT).

I test drove the latest Fortuner, where the engine sound seems to sound like a sewing machine. I prefer my (older) Fortuner.

However, in complete comparision, the 2015 Storme *sounds awesome*, with the turbo - I am driving this now every day, and even though it's a manual, it's really awesome in Mumbai city driving...

(Nothing beats the Storme's suspension, IMO)

I have been reading reviews of the 2020 Ford Endeavour, which appears to have improved its' ride - I will be test-driving it soon, I think!

Thanks for your valuable input, I know about the engine noise, but was not very much sure about the suspension of Fortuner. Will surely do the extended test drive of the upcoming model and then decide.

Endeavour was always a better package and I would have purchased the 3.2 without thinking twice, but now we have a downgraded engine that makes less power and Torque and for me it makes less sense to buy it for 40 Lakh+ Rupees. Let's wait and see what Gloster forces Toyota and Ford to up the ante.

Thanks,

Can't we fit the biturbo on the Endeavour?

In any case, current (even Aussie one) Fortuner falls behind the Everest (Endy), so I'm now looking at the Endy...
