Engine & Body has got a major change

The engine capacity has been brought down to 1100 cc. The power has also reduced to 54 bhp. As far as I know, some weight has been shed.
I tapped the fronter and I'm quite sure that the new body panels are thinner than the old Palio & NVs. One Technical guy over there told me that the new Palio's weight is less than 900 Kgs.
The new engine is said to have a better low end torque.

Fiat India's website is silent about the new Palio launch. It still shows the current Palio.
It was the first set of cars being sent to South India. The cars are launched. But they need the regional RTO approvals and only after they can take them to the road for Test Rides.
One more thing, it was already 7:30pm when I took the pics and the cars sent from companies dint have enough fuel too. The fuel stations are a couple of kms far and the sales executives were hesitant to give a car with almost empty fuel tank.

Fiat had an opportunity to get it right this time. And what do we get with the new Palio? Crappy interiors that have been around since the Siena was launched and have changed shades over the years. Least they could do was plonk in a fresh interior.

No complaints about the exteriors though. Yea..the rear could have been a bit better. Fiat has a couple of fine engines too. They need to price it right and I can see the whole Fiat club going for one. The rest of us will wait for the Punto/Linea.

i feel the pricing will be very competetive. i don't see how fiat can do otherwise.

if it is indeed priced well, and with some luck and consumer confidence, the wagonr's, estilos and santros will take a beating. the rationale being, for the same engine power, and more or less similar FE figures, you get a much bigger and better looking car and dare I say, better built.

very poor interiors

dear frnds,

The interior of the car seems to be not so diiferent from old palio. Its colour scheme is really bad as it is very poor display of asthetic sense. the basic shape of the dash is quite similar to the old palio. and the so called big difference, the two tone steering wheel will ensure that there are few takers for it.and the beige tone in dash makes it look more dirty. it seems that fiat india is spending money so customers turn away from fiat.

and another astonishing thing is that there is no digital odo meter(even tata indica has got one these days). By this upliftment fiat india will make it sure that the last loyals too leave them.

even indian streetside mechanics are talented to carryout better modifications than this.

goodbyeeeeeee fiat

Stile means : a step or set of steps for passing over a fence or wall.

Is fiat really sure of making "stile"

I think it is Stilo , not Stile? The rear end does remind me of Fiat Stilo.

Der aaye durust aaye. I think this model may sell. Reasons -

1) If priced right (below or equal to santro and estilio) , its much better offering than estilo, santro and Indica.
2) Mileage surely will improve with new 1.1L, 54BHP engine .
3) Space is equal to indica.
4) Good looks,ride and handling.
5) TATA backing for A.s.s

Okay, interior are not good but we dont expect excellant interiors from this priced hatch. So lets see.
This time...They are offering what AAM junta wants.

Does that mean the 1.6 will get the same bodyshell (thin sheet metal)??

Does that mean its definitely less safer than current 1.6/1.2 ?

Does that mean 1.6 -100 BHP driving 900 kgs of metal? Amazing performance????

If the new palio is <900kgs then what you stated above will most probably will be also be true.

Btw, anybody can confirm if New Palio's kerb weight has really been reduced to that extent?

Th palio derived most of its "strength" and percieved "safety" from its thick sheet metal. And being an owner of one, I can surely vouch for the feeling of solidity that you get in the car. But with the reduced weight due to thinner sheet metal, teh car will loose one of its Major USP. Dunno if this is the right way to go. I mean, based on the data available, the Indica Xeta seems a better buy than the Palio 1.1 now!!!!
