A cousin's Jazz has been constantly giving an efficiency of 11 kmpl in City (MT) & around 15.5 - 16 on the highways though the vehicle is primarily used in City with limited highway running. The car in reference has just been driven 35,000 kms in 5 years.

I concur with above fuel efficiency of Petrol Jazz in City. For me the average is between 11-12 kmpl & highways has been 14 kmpl highest so far with speeds varying between 80 to 120 kmph.

I believe if the driving is sedate and in between 80-90 kmpl, it might give a slightly better average.

Most of my highway runs are between Mumbai & Goa via NH4.

At the start of the journey I try to maintain average speed of 80-90 kmph till I cross Pune, but then the excitement to reach destination is so high, that i end up cruising between 100-120 kmph.

re: Honda Jazz BS6, now launched at Rs. 7.5 lakhs

I just can't understand Honda's approach in India. What was once a premium brand offering latest tech and quality products ahead of their time has now become a run of the mill company selling mediocre products with outdated technology. Do they even realize how the likes of Hyundai and Kia have stolen the thunder from under their feet and beaten them hollow at their own game. Even Tata products now look more modern than Hondas. And that's saying something. What a tragedy for all the once upon a time honda fanboys like me

These Japanese companies both honda and Toyota have completely lost the plot in India by taking the market for granted and their high handed approach thinking their products will sell easily just due to the brand name

And why the hell are they still selling the jazz with that silly 1.2 litre joke of an engine. Even an alto outperforms it. Plain ridiculous

Is 11-12 kmpl accepted as good city average?

Also is this mileage as per car MID or tankful-to-tankful method?

Other threads boast Jazz Petrol hitting even 20kmpl on highways.

How about the case of other similar cars? are there similarly good cars with better real-world mileage?

Asking for a friend:
- what is the city mileage of the Petrol MT?
- what is the highway mileage (90-110km/hr)?

Real life & unbiased figures please.
I have a 2012 Jazz — petrol, manual — and I get 10-11 kmpl driving in the city (Bombay). I don't do much highway driving, but when I have, I've typically gotten 16-18 kmpl.

I can only share my experience, I own a Baleno and a close friend owns Jazz. Both were ridden in similar city and highway conditions of Amritsar so the mileage can be directly compared. I have often driven his Jazz so even the driving style would be the same.

Jazz (2017) : City ~12-13kmpl, Highway ~18kmpl (sedate, at 80-100).
Baleno (2018) : City ~17kmpl, Highway ~21-22kmpl

Now, whether you consider the two similarly good or not is subjective. There's perceptible difference in the build quality of the two. Baleno has more bling, Jazz feels better put together (to me). In fact, I'm looking to swap my MT Baleno with a CVT Jazz. My running is on the higher side, but I've learned to accept some compromise on the FE in favour of a better put together car.

Honda needs to up their game quickly and significantly or they risk being a marginal player; the lack of interest in bringing international products to India is quite sad to see.

One can expect around 12 kmpl in the city and 15 kmpl on the highway for the petrol manual Jazz.

re: Honda Jazz BS6, now launched at Rs. 7.5 lakhs

Given the multiple and substantially different FE numbers mentioned in this thread for this car and elsewhere on this forum (I've seen 20+ for the highways somewhere), I feel it's necessary to repeat this about FE, it depends A LOT on your driving style, at what RPM you switch gears, how heavy or light footed you are on the accelerator. If you like to pick up speed quickly, FE will take a substantial hit. If you build up the speeds slowly, drive sedately, prefer to anticipate and lift your foot off the accelerator a bit before rather than braking up close, the FE will be considerably higher.

Imo along with FE numbers, we should all also mention our driving styles. I used to be very aggressive in my early years. Even recently, I had a target destination to reach before night so I drove aggressively and got a FE of 18 on my Baleno MT on the highway, as opposed to my usual 21-22 (it's even higher in the winters without the aircon).

Hi Onedge,

The above average stated is as per car tankful to tankful method & full time with A/C on (forgot to mention that earlier).

Sometimes my car stays on Idle for long time in parking while i am waiting for family to come. I bought Jazz only for the honda reliability & the amount of space it has to offer.

I own a 2019 Jazz MT and have been getting 13-14 kmpl in the city. The highway mileage should be 16-17 kmpl for that kind of cruising speeds.

P.S.: My car has about 12k on the odo and is primarily used in the city.

Mine is a 2015 VX MT. I always top-up petrol to full tank. The last 5000kms has averaged 13kmpl in Chennai.
On a recent drive to Cochin, averaged about 16kmpl on the TN highways @ 100-120 kmph. On the KL highways, averaged 18kmpl @ 70-80 kmph (rain, speed cameras & traffic!).

On the website there is no mention of transmission options yet. I hope they bring in their CVT though in the Jazz. It will be interesting to see how Honda pitches the WR-v against the Jazz ( both providing sunroof & CVT, if so)

Don't beat me here, but what's new here? I really don't see much new here. Almost all same. One more flop from Honda. I don't see any reason why someone buy's Jazz in current sub 4 meter SUV market where Nexon, Brezza, Venue etc are ruling. Waste of a effort from Honda.
