Mahindra XUV300 prices cut by up to Rs. 87,129

Mahindra has updated the prices of the XUV300. While most of the variants see a price reduction, prices of the W4 and W6 diesel variants have gone up.

The W8 Optional petrol variant gets a massive price reduction of Rs. 87,129, followed by the W8 petrol which gets a price cut of Rs. 70,000. The W6 and W4 variants see a price reduction of Rs. 17,000 and Rs. 35,000 respectively.

The price of the W8 diesel variant has gone down by Rs. 20,000, while W8 Optional diesel gets a price cut of Rs. 39,000. On the other hand, prices of the W6 Diesel and W4 Diesel have been hiked by Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 1,000 respectively.

It is likely that the prices were corrected due to the upcoming launch of the Kia Sonet and the Toyota Urban Cruiser.

The XUV300 is available with a BS6 compliant 1.2-litre, turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre, turbocharged diesel engine. The Petrol is rated at 110 BHP / 200 Nm while the diesel puts out 115 BHP @ / 300 Nm. Both engines are paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox while the diesel version also gets a 6-speed AMT in addition to the manual gearbox.

Variant wise prices:

Petrol
W4 - Rs. 7,94,999
W6 - Rs. 8,98,000
W8 - Rs. 9,89,999
W8 Optional - Rs. 10,96,999

Diesel
W4 - Rs. 8,69,998
W6 - Rs. 9,69,999
W6 AMT - Rs. 10,19,999
W8 - Rs. 10,74,999
W8 AMT - Rs. 11,29,999
W8 Optional - Rs. 11,74,999
W8 Optional AMT - Rs. 12,30,000

Re: Mahindra XUV300 prices cut by up to Rs. 87,129

Interesting. While they call it "reduction" its more of a "correction". The car surely was overpriced for the segment. Would be interesting to see this reduction is at the expense of what features per trim. Will be quite impressive if no features are dropped while reducing the price. Tricky game to justify the previous higher price to existing customers in that case.

If anyone had any doubts about the impact SONET would have on the segment - here's the clear visual of the impact. The prices for Sonet aren't even released by KIA yet. But Mahindra is already bracing. The XUV3OO was already starting to show slower sales since some weeks now. The Sonet would really push it into insignificant by price variance at launch. A timely reaction by M&M one has to say!

Re: Mahindra XUV300 prices cut by up to Rs. 87,129

Happy to hear of the price correction, as Reinhard rightly noted . I love the XUV300 and think of it as a proper premium crossover. While the product itself was surprisingly "high" quality for a Mahindra, the price was also "high" for a Mahindra. It was priced at a premium, something that brand Mahindra couldn't carry. The XUV500 was a different matter as it was among the first modern SUVs in that price bracket, but the XUV300 already had established competitors from Maruti, Ford, Tata etc.

Re: Mahindra XUV300 prices cut by up to Rs. 87,129

To be honest, more than the pricing correction, what Mahindra needs is to the a correction for their Variant strategy. At this day and age, how do you expect to not have a petrol AMT variant in the line-up ? I understand Mahindra had a bias from the beginning for Diesel cars but that era is gone now and a balanced Petrol / Diesel Vs Manual and Automatic across portfolios will do them wonders. Also they are too slow to migrate to BS6 era. I wish they take some urgent steps and get back into the game aggressively.
Looking Forward to Marazzo BS6, TUV300, New XUV500, XUV300 EV etc.

Re: Mahindra XUV300 prices cut by up to Rs. 87,129

Finally there's a good price correction by Mahindra atleast for the top two petrol trims in the XUV 3OO lineup. 9.98 lacs for the W8 variant sounds rather good as earlier the price difference between the W6 and W8 was close to a whopping 2.19lacs on road. Even the W8 and W8(O) are now cheaper then the Nexon XZ+ and XZ(O) trims by 25k and 15K respectively. Nexon no longer holds the value for money proposition against any of its rivals.
But according to me the only big negative 3OO has is in terms of its rear looks.

Indeed a correction of price, even though when it was launched the interiors and features clubbed with that monster Diesel Engine made it a segment Torque King. Later on AMT was added which was only used in lower segments, Kia is coming with DCT and TC in the same segment.

I am sure since petrol engines has not been the regular cup of team for Mahindra they may not be considering a Turbo Petrol at this stage, but M&M should plan to import a DCT or a TC or even iMT at least to put here especially in the Diesel edition considering this is one of the well built cars of this segment.

This is exactly what Ford had done with Ecosport when Brezza was launched. Almost 1L price cut was offered in 2015 or 2016. Even then the pricing was not out but Ecosport none the less reduced the price.

God bless the competition. If we had similar fierce competition in Compact SUV space, Creta and Seltos would not be hitting 20L price point.

I just hope that with Kia shaking things up, the AMT as a pseudo automatic transmission will lose favour soon. I would rather prefer the IMT than the AMT purely based on initial drive reviews of the Venue. Atleast it is closer to a Manual than an AMT is to an automatic transmission. Mahindra, Tata, Renault and Maruti must take notice and stop this pseudo auto transmission business as soon as possible.

Absolutely agree. If automakers want to give a cheap auto transmission, then as per the present reviews iMT it shall be. Recently I saw a review/Q&A by Sirish Chandran where he explained things very well on the Hyundai Venue iMT. The price difference between the manual and iMT is marginal. Hope other manufacturers follow suit and ditch AMT.
I am in the market for a new car (10 to 12 lac range). I liked the Nexon, but it offers AMT. Now with Kia Sonet and Venue iMT there are some good options. If XUV300 were to be made available with iMT it would make a compelling choice.

Given that the XUV300 is still among the priciest in its segment, it's very unlikely they'll want to make it even more expensive by adding a proper automatic. I think the best we can hope for is an iMT.

Re: Mahindra XUV300 prices cut by up to Rs. 87,129

Well 'price correction' sounds so much better than 'price cut'. In my view despite of being a good product, XUV300 was over-priced from the very beginning. Solid premium feel and the wonderful engine aside, what severely impacts the car is the puny boot space !

This idea of price cuts by the manufacturers when presented with a competition reduces the brand loyalty somewhat in my view. Massive price cuts just like what Ford did with the Ecosport when Brezza was launched is still fresh in the mind and makes the customers wonder if they got the raw end of the deal. Tells you how much the manufacturers make if they can straightaway cut the prices to such levels as Ford did or to the extent what Mahindra did.

It would be interesting to note how many features are curtailed by Mahindra for this price reduction. If not, then it would be a boon for the potential customers and a case for frustration for the existing owners. KIA has done a massive shake up to the already crammed up Sub-SUV segment without even announcing the prices

Re: Mahindra XUV300 prices cut by up to Rs. 87,129

A price correction which should have happened at the time of launch itself. It was almost hitting 15 lakhs in Bangalore from what I remember. I considered the diesel but rejected due to its price being out of my budget. Better late than never though. A competent car, but as expected, low volume seller. Hopefully a more substantial price reduction will see it doing better numbers.

Re: Mahindra XUV300 prices cut by up to Rs. 87,129

Well, they should have followed the earlier XUV's example of launching at an attractive price and then gradually increasing it once the product is well accepted.

With the 300, unlike 500, maybe Mahindra was over confident of success?

Slow movers have rarely picked up in our market regardless of price cuts. Once a reputation is built and established, it's hard to reset. Let's see how this pans out over the next few months.
