Re: Sticker on the front windshield - New trend?

I do not see it often to be called as a trend. Not common to spot atleast here in Bangalore (except the completely modified ones). Infact I think it used to be a trend, which is dying (which is a good thing).

I remember seeing a Polo and a Swift with all its outside badging removed, giving a very clean and clutter free look. Looked great from the back.

The trend reminds Me of a Sequence from the Movie Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby

Re: Sticker on the front windshield - New trend?

As people said it was cool during 90s but I assume now it is trending all because of social media especially in kerala. I think it looks cool just because it looks less noisy as it sits just behind glass and safe for wipers. Thought of getting it done for my cars but backed off as while removing will cause scratches. And yes it might affect visibility depending on vinyl size.

This is a new trend I mainly observed in Kerala, not seen it in Namma Bengaluru. New bee drivers are plastering big decals on the front windshield, may be increases the speed by a certain amount.

My duster with windshield sticker from namma Bengaluru
As said by others, this sticker does add speed and horses
On a serious note, it looks good though.

Right, I see it a lot in Kerala these days. It wasn't there last year. I did noticed and wondered if this is the new trend every time I see one and was amused when I saw this thread. Interestingly, I am yet to see this on a sedan. All of the spottings till now has been on hatchbacks and 'urban' SUVs.

It started couple of years back in Kerala.
I have seen it in almost all type of vehicles in Kerala. Hatch back, sedan, SUV, Vans etc.
Even Private and Kerala SRTC buses have these windshield stickers on them

It really doesn't - but thats just my opinion!

Doesn't this affect your view from inside the car? Even if it is only 1% visible from the inside (i.e. 99% see through) then you are losing that much visibility of the road etc.

I'm pretty sure that in other countries this is 100% illegal - what does the law here say about this?

Re: Sticker on the front windshield - New trend?

I came across a video on Youtube, a heavily modified i10 grand with front windshield sticker. Contrary to our opinions, looks like the front visibility is not much hampered. It might not be the same in nights though.

The car.

Re: Sticker on the front windshield - New trend?

I always drive with the windshield sunshade down. Feels comfortable on the eyes without affecting visibility. Recently I got a black sticker on the top section covering the same area (width) as the sunshade would cover. Illegal as per RTO ruling - Yes. Peeling it off - No.
And yes, I have a dashcam stuck on the windshield.
I would not let go of these small pleasures on my otherwise stock car.
