Re: 3rd-gen Volvo S60 to be launched in India in early 2021

3rd Gen Volvo to be "Unveiled" in India on 27th Nov. 2020 ? Isn't this s60 i.e. 3rd Gen on sale globally since Oct. 2018 ? Hence the "unveiling" of 3rd Gen in India is just a marketing line to show a latest model is being introduced but frankly can't understand the delay in India.

Also a quick reminder for prospective owners that Volvo Car Group i.e. Volvo Cars is owned by Zhejiang Geely Holding (Geely Holding) of China.

Re: 3rd-gen Volvo S60 to be launched in India in early 2021

Volvo S60 gets the 2-litre petrol with 187bhp and 300Nm (no diesel). Claimed to have longest wheelbase in its class.

Bookings for the Volvo S60 will open in January next year, and the launch will take place in March, with deliveries set to begin shortly after.

Re: 3rd-gen Volvo S60 to be launched in India in early 2021

Pricing is the key here for Volvo and they really need to (or rather will) undercut the German Trios. The product offered here is actually superior given the fully loaded inscription trim and the longer wheel base should impress buyers. I would although be wary about the ground clearance compared to the competition which should be low I guess? Otherwise, with best in class cabin, seating comfort and safety this is pretty much a shrunken S90 barring the air suspension and other minor features. For those who see the value and prioritize impeccable safety this should be a good buy in my opinion.

Is the current gen S60 still being sold? Droom.in shows New stocks at Talwar Cars in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad selling the 2020 version of S60 polestar, Cross-country and Momentum in several colors. I tried contacting Talwar Cars but am unable to reach anyone.

The global website shows T6 only on it's S60 page

https://www.volvocars.com/en-ca/buil...iption#engines

Hope they upgrade to that instead of a 2018 lineup T4s.

Re: 3rd-gen Volvo S60 to be launched in India in early 2021

The car looks really good both from outside and inside. The petrol motor seems adequate but not explosive. Should be acceptable to many. German offerings have gotten very expensive over time. If Volvo can price it aggressively, and increase its touch points, it might sell in decent numbers. Any polestar version on the cards?

According to the Volvo site, its not listed anymore so I doubt if they will have any stocks of the old gen S60. Even the international sites only list the new gen S60s in its mild hybrid and hybrid trims.

Right. Pricing is the key here and it should do decent volumes. I don't think Volvo will bring Polestar tuning or trims to India as I heard from sources that it is posing Homologation issues. Plus I am sure Volvo knows their cars are not perceived as performance oriented (atleast in India) so I guess they won't bother on that front. They can and should only play the comfort and the safety cards in India and that should bode well.

The alloys are strikingly similar to the BMW 330i M Sport!

Re: 3rd-gen Volvo S60 to be launched in India in early 2021

Mod Note: Please continue the discussion on the S60 review thread (Volvo S60 : Official Review). Thanks!

Good to see them launch this. Volvo has come a long way now with much better brand perception and acceptance. This car has the potential to better numbers than the previous generation.

However, I do not agree with this strategy of discontinuing the diesel engines altogether. Every company ought to make such decisions country-specific and not at a global level. In India diesel is still very much present and is not going anywhere soon. Offering just 1 petrol engine would not help them in doing the numbers they could have done otherwise.
