Isuzu D-Max beats Toyota Hilux as Thailand's best-selling truck for 2 years in a row.

For the second year running, the Isuzu D-Max holds its title as Thailand’s best-selling pick-up truck of 2021. With 149,102 units sold, the D-Max is also the Kingdom’s best-selling car.

Second-place is the Toyota Hilux with 127,669 units sold in 2021. Like the D-Max, it too saw a slump in sales compared to 2020 that saw 129,893 units sold.

Even with the addition of a sporty-looking GR Sport variant, that isn’t enough to faze Thai buyers who still prefer the robustness of the D-Max.

2022 might see some additional rivals that could be making their way into the Kingdom.

It is unlikely that any of these models could pose a threat to the D-Max’s and Hilux’s sales.

Wonder what will be the features spread across the variants.

If the dimensions and ground clearance was different, I would have thought the Low and High meant low riding and high riding as in other markets.

No, it is a different technology. When IMT is engaged during aggressive upshifts and downshifts the engine revs are synchronised automatically for smooth shifting.

The Hilux gets 18-inch alloys



The Hilux gets an 8-inch touchscreen infotaiment system with AppleCarplay and AndroidAuto





The Hilux gets a turbocharged diesel engine which pushes out 500 Nm of torque.



The Hilux gets the Auto Limited Slip Differential and it also gets Active Traction Control (A-Trac)





The Hilux sees a water wading capacity of 700mm.



The Hilux received a 5 star safety rating at the aseancap in 2020



Price of the Hilux will be announced in March, Bookings begin from today.
