Tata Harrier XT+ variant with panoramic sunroof launched at Rs. 16.99 lakh

The Tata Harrier is now available in a new XT+ variant, which comes equipped with a panoramic sunroof. The new variant is priced at Rs. 16.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This is an introductory price, which will be valid for customers who book the vehicle in September 2020 and take deliveries by December 31, 2020. The price will increase from October 1, 2020.

Besides the sunroof, the XT+ variant also gets automatic projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights, 17-inch alloy wheels, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment head-unit with 8-speakers and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, engine start / stop button, automatic climate control, rain sensing wipers and reverse parking camera.

The Harrier is powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine that produces 168 BHP @ 3,750 rpm and 350 Nm @ 1,750-2,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Here's how the Tata Harrier compares with its rivals - Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.

Re: Tata Harrier XT+ variant with panoramic sunroof launched at Rs. 16.99 lakh

First the Nexon, now on the Harrier - sunroof in a mid-trim.
This appears to be an outcome of some market research and honestly seems like a good move which will help their sales. People place a lot of importance to sunroofs, especially panoramic ones.

Should help their sales! Is there not an XTA+?

Good move by Tata. Adding Panoramic sunroof in XT+ variant will definitely attract more buyers. Unfortunately, there is not XTA+ on offer, wish they launch it soon to complete the package.

There website has been updated with the details of new XT+ trim.

Re: Tata Harrier XT+ variant with panoramic sunroof launched at Rs. 16.99 lakh

A very bold move this to include sunroof in the XT+ along with ESP. What is equally smart is that things like 6 airbags, the automatic gearbox, powered driver's seat and the partly digital instrument cluster are still restricted to the XZ and XZ+ variants. Allows for a good amount of variant differentiation and ensures that the XT+ won't eat much into XZ sales. I don't expect to see an automatic in the XT+ for the same reason.

Having said this, I don't think the XT+ is as relevant to the Harrier as the XM(S) is to the Nexon. The simple reason being it still fails to tackle the problem of a VFM variant for the Harrier around the 17-18L OTR mark. The XM still lacks things like climate control and alloy wheels. An XM+ variant would have really made a lot more sense and it could have added things like climate control, alloy wheels and the likes (things a 17-18L car should have no matter which segment it is from IMHO).

Its good to see TATA finally stepping up and filling holes in the variant lineup nevertheless. Nothing like having a larger number of variants for a given car. Just ask Kia.

In KA the XE variant starts at 17.5 lakhs OTR. XM is nearly 19lakhs. There's no power foldable windows on a 18 lakh OTR car amongst other basic features and you wonder why they haven't seen an uptick in sales yet?

This is superb from Tata Motors, Now add the XTA+ at 17.99 and the car will do 2000+ per month easily. Finally looks like Tata is sorting out their variant distribution on the Harrier.

Wish they had woken up earlier.

I have a very wishful thinking that maybe there should a XE+, XM+ variants too with that panoramic sunroof.

With latest news that August 2020 saw best sales of Harrier in last 15 months, wishing them all the best

Re: Tata Harrier XT+ variant with panoramic sunroof launched at Rs. 16.99 lakh

TATA Motor is starting off a new trend by introducing sunroof in mid variants. I wouldn't be surprised if other companies replicate this since sunroof is a big selling point in our market. Harrier XT+ seems to be the perfect variant where one gets all essentials along with a pano sunroof. XTA+ at ~1.2 lacs premium will be wonderful. Someone in TATA Motor's product planning is finally thinking in the right direction.

Hector gets silver alloys in Super variant and XUV 500 gets Alloys in W9 similar to Harrier in XT.

XUV 500 gets ACC in W7 onwards but Hector has it only on the top spec Sharp variant while Harrier has in XT.

Harrier gets Pano sunroof in XT+ - Mid variant while Hector gets only on top spec Sharp and XUV500 offers a smaller sun roof in W9.

XM is more like the base variant in this segment. It'll be very rare that you get to see XUV W5 or Hector Style or Harrier XE. But I agree on your POV on having more variants and it'll only help customers choose the best suitable for them.

XE - 13.84
XM - 15.15
XM+ - 15.85 - Include silver alloys, ACC, auto headlamps & wipers
XMA+ - 16.95
XT - 16.40
XT+ - 16.90 - With Pano sunroof
XTA+ - 18.00
XZ - 17.65
XZA - 18.95
XZ+ - 18.90
XZA+ - 19.99

Customers choosing XM will happily opt for XM+ for additional features and TATA motors can make that much more profits. Win-Win for both.

I don't understand what a power foldable window is. If you meant power windows, Harrier gets power windows in XE. If you meant power foldable/adjustable ORVM, then yes, thats a miss in XE but that isn't something that will be a deal breaker. Anyways XE variant is just on paper to have a lower starting price and the XM is to be considered as base variant.

Re: Tata Harrier XT+ variant with panoramic sunroof launched at Rs. 16.99 lakh

Sixer from Tata. The Harrier sales are already on fire, and this variant will pour Gasoline to that fire. Really appreciate the out-of-the box thinking from Tata. They did the same with Nexon and many reviewers have named it the most VFM offering in Nexon.

This will put Korean sisters and JC on edge. I was eyeing for the XT variant, but contemplating between used JC or new Harrier. Now I am tending slightly towards Harrier.

Meant electrically adjustable ORVMs. That should have been standard on a car in this class at the starting price.

Edit: And yes I do understand that the XE variant exists solely on paper and that the XM with the steel wheels, regular bulb drls is the base variant in reality(even though the E, M, T and Z indicate Entry/Middle/Top/Ultimate versions) but by doing that they are losing sales.

Hyundai for example has now reduced production of E Diesel and EX Petrol because a chunk of their sales are for base models who's waiting period is as of this moment at 15 weeks.

Re: Tata Harrier XT+ variant with panoramic sunroof launched at Rs. 16.99 lakh

Good move from Tata. I feel this is due to the heat from Seltos, which had provided a decent amount of features from even mid variant. I hope Harrier finally picks up the sales it deserves.

Although personally I would prefer them to bring the compact SUV above Nexon as soon as possible. The market is moving to SUVs ( or raised cars? ) And that is a gap they can fill. Facelift Nexon prices for the top end do creep into the territory I was hoping the compact SUV would feel but still, as the saying goes, if you do not cannibalise yourself, someone else will gladly do it for you.

Re: Tata Harrier XT+ variant with panoramic sunroof launched at Rs. 16.99 lakh

Great move by Tata. New Harrier now becomes much more desirable car with this addition in mid version. I am sure it will attract more customers definitely.

Keep it up Tata. Looks like Tata has got some fresh, young blood in their marketing team. First Nexon, now Harrier. They are listening and giving what mass people wants. No complaints at all, win win situation for both. Miles to go.

Very happy to see Tata, Indian manufacturer being proactive and innovative. Surely it will give them sweet fruits. Mahindra - Why are you missing party?

Nice move by TATA. Will increase the sales for sure. So, it’s now the season of Sunroof. We should be seeing every other manufacturer doing the same on their cars. But, Maruti please don’t bring it to SPresso

Re: Tata Harrier XT+ variant with panoramic sunroof launched at Rs. 16.99 lakh

This is indeed good news, but I feel TATA should have prioritised launching and XTA at around 17.5 lakhs.

When you have an advantage through a unique value proposition, you capitalise it like hell. The Harrier is the only SUV in the class that offers a Diesel Auto. The Hector does not have it yet, but they soon will. The Compass Auto is way overpriced and is almost into the next segment due to this. The Seltos and Creta have Diesel Autos but they are a segment below in size and power but almost the same segment in terms of price.

TATA should leverage this advantage like hell when in the short window they have it. Launch a Diesel Auto in every price point and kill the competition and also pull in some customers from the segments above and below. The advantage might not last long, since I bet MG is working on an auto for the Hector.

Right now, they have left a wide gap unaddressed between XMA and XTA. The XMA is so basic that nobody will buy it and the XZA is too expensive approaching 23L on-road. IMO they should downgrade the current XMA to an XEA and launch XMA with features worthy of a 18-19 lakh on-road car. Then launch an XTA with most features currently on the XZA and kill the XZA. You will then have XEA, XMA, XTA and the XZA+ - A Diesel Auto at every price point!

Off topic but is this even possible? I always thought dealers cannot guarantee a "Booking Price" and it is only the price on delivery that counts.

Ridiculous if some one who books in October and takes immediate delivery gets a higher price than someone who booked in September but takes delivery in November.
