Re: Digital Dials and their increasing popularity

Analog is easier for the mind to comprehend at a glance when driving. An initial effort of understanding what signifies risk in the display will of course be needed.

Digital displays will need additional effort from the driver to analyse whether the reading signifies a risk or not. Otherwise the display has to change if the values signify some risk eg using colour-coding.

Re: Digital Dials and their increasing popularity

I’m in support for analog dials. They are classy, easy to comprehend and less distracting. The additional details can be shown in the MID. I really like how it’s done in Jeep Compass Limited edition facelift. On a related note, even the touch based AC controls as seen in City, Kushaq etc. also is very distracting and from an accessibility point of view, it’s poorly executed.

Re: Digital Dials and their increasing popularity

Like it or not, Fully Digital MID is going to be the norm in future.Even scooters have adopted fully digital dial.

What I expect dials with changeable graphics, some like round, some like square /C shaped dials.

7-10 inch 720P/1080P MID with crisp graphics will please most. Plus, makers will charge a premium to replace faulty MID, so digital Dial/MID are the future.

When Chevy BEAT was launched with a digital display, it was heavily criticized. Now after a decade it is the trend, however will there be adequate spares for future replacements.
