I upvoted your comment but I'm not able to find any relevant information on web. All I can see is an Indica Diesel clocking 5.85 lakh Kms. Can you please share a link where it says what you have said.

Apart from the engine, there are so many running parts which must have been changed. I’d like to have a look if the Air Con assembly survived or if Drive shafts were replaced. Power Steering (Hydraulic in this model?) too is susceptible to give up during these years.

:
This vehicle does not have drive shafts. Not in the usual sense of a Front wheel Drive Car. It has a live axel/differential at the back.

Should mention the service history, engine oil used, engine coolant used etc.
Can they check for the drop in power output, say a dyno.
then we can get the clear picture of engine performance, the percentage drop if any.

Re: 13-year old Innova completes 10 lakh kilometres

I am seriously trying to do the math here and somehow its not falling in place -

10,00,000 kms in 12 years
= 83,333 kms each year
= 6,945 kms each month
= 230 kms every day
= 6 hours every day (in standard driving conditions)

that too for a personal car -

Considering that the Car will be going some places where it might halt or stay at least a couple of hours, and some days will be holidays, some bandhs, some days sick or some days off, or some weeks out of stations, some days busy in other work.

I wonder if the owner did anything else besides munching kilometers on this.

Seems unreasonable.

Could be one of those cabbies (with multiple drivers) who operates under personal number plates. I know of two from North India who do this. Not sure why one would do so, though.

My late father's company has a manual white board Laura in their factory that has clocked north of 2.4 lakh km and is still going strong, quite smooth except the last time I was in it, it was due for yet another clutch.

Their factory is around 150 km from the nearest major airport so it is in almost daily use on 300 km round trips to ferry senior management as well as visitors to the factory, pick up small items sent by air cargo etc.

That is incredible for a Skoda! I gave up on mine after 25K/6 years.

You don't need to change the engine and anyways in India you cannot change engines.

Got this as a Whatsapp message in an XUV5OO group.
13-year old Innova completes 10 lakh kilometres-screenshot_20200530044814__01.jpg
It's a pretty impressive feat. I although have doubts regarding It's authenticity because it is a 2015+ model of the XUV and to cover 7L kilometres in 5 years is rather questionable, even for a Cab driver I guess.

If this is true then hats off to the owner , with this it is worth noticing the comfort this car is offering for achieving this milestone.

But 6 hours/day is math, usually it will be more on weekend less on weekday (Since personal car).
Even with this :
Assuming 50~50 of weekend drive ~ weekday drive then
5L / 600(weekend) = 830km+ average weekend drive for 12 years
5L / 3120(weekdays) = 160km/day average weekdays drive for 12 years
Both are hard to believe for a personal car.

Why can't you change engines?

Very likely a entrepreneur and multiple drivers involved. This car is from a tier 2 city (Tirunelveli) 230 km won't take 6 hours. If you have a plant or supplier in the next major city (in this car's case it'll be Madurai 150 km away), its not hard to rake up high mileage. Take it on family trips interstate, its all the more easy.

Here's a query (Want to buy a 20 - 30 lakh car for running of 8000 km / month. Which one?) from an entrepreneur from another TN small town, look at the monthly running quoted.

You can. The engine number is in your RC, so RTO formalities are involved.

Re: 13-year old Innova completes 10 lakh kilometres

I am sure there are many more Innovas running with a higher ODO reading. I remember DSK Toyota SA mentioning about an Innova which done 12L KMs. Most high run Innovas end up being tampered hence we never see the actual ODO reading. Best wishes to the owner of this Innova.

Re: 13-year old Innova completes 10 lakh kilometres

So let us say that I go ahead and buy a used 2 lakh Km run Innova and I get it serviced at Toyota A.S.S, I will still incur considerable scheduled maintenance costs right? I have heard of huge parts costs for instance - where a suspension component for an Ertiga will cost Rs.5,000, the corresponding Innova component would be Rs.15,000.

But the replaced component will be much more robust and last you much longer. You can happily drive that Innova another 2 lakh km with the overall cost of ownership being low - and would have scrapped the Ertiga long before that and wound up buying a new car.

It has a Turbo alright, but Initially the Innova came without an Intercooler.
