There is no SVR variant this time around? Is it because Ford has stopped the production of 5.0l V8 engine and JLR is short on them?

Damn a 3.0 litre diesel for more than 4 crores? Last year the 5.0 litre supercharged SVAuobiography was available for less than this IIRC.

How much Rangie do you get for the 88 lakh base trim? Rather, what all do you miss out on?

The prices of the higher trim levels are obnoxious.

This is hardly a brand that commands a price tag in the 3 to 4 cr range. Even if they are at the top of the hill in the luxury SUV segment what they are asking for their higher trims makes no sense.

I think they just want to project themselves as an alternative in the uber Luxury SUV segment, but this is no Bentayga. They are just cashing in on the lack of competition in the segment which sits above the regular Luxury SUV and below the Bentley and the RR.

Last month when I called the dealership, the full size Range Rover had a waiting period of 5 months, and the Range Rover Sport & the Discovery full size were available in 1 month or so with the 2.0 petrol engine only.

Why this 5 month waiting period I wonder, as the Cayenne was available in multiple colours, and even the Lamborghini Urus was available within November. Other full size SUVs like the GLS or the much popular X7 were also available almost readily.

Has the demand for the full size Range Rover gone down to that extent that JLR only make them against ordres?

Its high time they slash the variants to two and go the CKD route. RR Sport in HSE and RR Vogue in LWB.

Aggressive pricing can give the S-class and Maybach a run for it's money.

Is there any other automobile which has had such a CULT status? Almost 10 years of the same shape and I find them better than any new full-sized SUV .

Not an expert here but I still disagree. Range Rover's customers in this bracket hardly look at this aspect or would be barely bothered if RR charged even a Cr more. This actually is the only brand that would sell over 2 Cr. Range Rovers have been selling on premium for a long time, and it appears to be a good strategy to make the brand feel premium when you can hold on to same(high) pricing for the entire product life cycle. These cars are direct import and the UK manufactured car are always high on manufacturing cost.

You won't see the owners selling them so easily and rarely would a Range Rover come at a tempting price in used-car yard. While I LOVE the german trio, they are awful in the used section of classifieds.

How long have the GLS/X6/X7/Q7/Q8 been in production? Range Rover has a heritage there.

This is like Apple vs Vertu. While some may like Vertu, others would see it as Apples vs Onions. I've a feeling that Range Rover prospects would hardly consider any other SUV's (or any other car for that matter). Know 2 such folks personally. IMO, Bentayga/Cullinan have an entirely different customer base and they would keep Range Rover as a sleeper car for them.

Sadly, that seems highly unlikely. The Velar is reduced to just 1 variant from the initial 2 dozen options, and it is still priced at a premium , that when it is - Manufactured in India!
While I'd be more than happy to be proven wrong by JLR but they would focus more on Discovery Sport, Evoque or the F-pace which generates more volumes.

Man, all this money and no V8? Also, what is with that godawful photoshop job? Even the Nano had better artwork.

I agree with you on this. The owner's market for this car is highly illogical. Even in the UK, if you're rich, you have to have one of the Rangies. Everyone knows that the damn things fall apart in a few years, and the prices on used ones are lower than peanuts in some cases, but people still flock to them.

This isn't quite true. Owners are happy to get rid of them because they're horrible to maintain after a while, and quickly replace them with the same updated car. I have more than one friend or acquaintance who is in this position - their cars spend at least a week every two months in a workshop.
