Noooooooo! The new one is a Stile, and not a Palio. Let the Palio name continue, unblemished.

One of my friend has driven the new Palio Stile 1.1 and he was able to pull the car 100 KMPH at 2nd Gear. Do you guys think it is underpower ?

Length increased?

Specs for old Palio 1.6 has length of 3763. Palio stile web site states it is 3825 while wheel base is same at 2373. Does this mean more boot space or error in spec?

Hi Guys,

I also checked out the Fiat website. It just talks about the Stile and Adventure. What about Petra? Any idea why its not mentioned there?

I tend to agree with Amit. Fiat seems to be talking, and more importantly doing, many things right this time.

However, improving A/S/S is a real uphill task and far far easier said than done.

Fiat seems to have started marketing Stile in print media, which is a good thing but barely sufficient. It would really need sustained and focussed efforts. It is very important to increase the road presence in early days. I am surprised that there are no advt. on TV channels. Fiat needs to understand that they are not Honda, who doesn't need to market in India. They are "Fiat India" and unless, they go all out on marketing front in early stage, Stile will meet same fate as other Fiat cars.

They should be focusing on marketing a) mileage AKA FE, b) low maintenance, c) space, comfort, looks (in that order).

Here is the Bangalore price list of Palio, Getz, Aveo U-VA and Indica. Nothing can beat Indica's VFM, but Tata was never targeting this segment with xeta . I have put it here because some one was comparing the bhps of these. Now you can do the comparison.

Palio Stile
SL 352874
SLE 373030
SLX 393296
Sport 434848

Getz Prime
1.1 GLE 3,88,852
1.1 GVS 4,21,208
1.3 GLS 4,90,400
1.3 GLX 5,25,508

Aveo U-VA
Base 399825
LS 440213
LT 480263

Indica Xeta
GL-BS III 2,52,635
GLE-BS III 2,76,610
GLS-BS III 2,95,623
GLG-BSIII 3,18,980
GLX-BS III 3,46,770
By the way, I have really liked the new looks of Palio.

What are the Stile's gear ratios? It's 57 BHP pulling a car that weighs one tonne, depends on what your definition of underpowered is. I find the Swift inadequate too in certain situations, and it's got about 30 BHP more pulling the tonne.

I really doubt their ratios are this long. The car will be in serious trouble if they are. The stock Palio 1.2 only pulls to 80 in 2nd, as does the 1.6 GTX. Technology has nothing to do with it, greatdrive. It's just a question of adding or subtracting a few teeth to a gear.

A few members of Fiat Club India test drove the car during the launch on 2nd. They did mention that the car is a bit sluggish in the 2nd gear but crosses 100 kmph.So it seems the 2nd cog is indeed that long.According to them,3rd is shorter and has good punch.Need to get hands on that Palio 1.1's manual to see what the ratios are like.

we are talking here on a number of threads about multiple new launches, almost all of them in the same segment, without having a lot of relevant information, torque curves, gear ratios etc. don't you guys think so ???

I think it will be left out. The Tatas would have made an offer that Fiat could not refuse, if you get what I mean. Expect the oil burners on more upscale Fiat models. Where there is no competition to the Tata portfolio.
