re: The Skoda Kushaq crossover, now unveiled!

I am just saying, wait for the launch, you would be surprised by the features and the price, this car is going to be value for money, skoda is really putting a lot of effort into the new car.

If you are in the market for a new car in this price range, just wait! Just wait for 6 months and then make an informed decision, it's going to be worth it

A couple of more questions from my cousin who asked me to ask these, because now he is so used to the rapid that he gets confused driving any other car.

a) Are the indicator-wiper stalks on this still the "wrong" way around?
b) Is the fuel filler cap also the "wrong" side?
c) Will this also have a knob for setting the lights on or off?
d) which variant will have seat height adjust and remote locking? And how many variants, for that matter?

a) yes wrong side
b) yes wrong side
But you get accustomed after a while so no worries
c) yes the headlight switch will be a regulator/knob type
d) seat height adjustment from mid variant, i think remote locking would come with the base variant because it's not actually a base variant, it has pretty decent set of features.

ASS and maintenance/parts costs will still be a big big question mark.

Unfortunately no, but let's hope the DSG is sorted now, haven't heard of any issues in troc and karoq

Then will have to strike off the Vision IN from my list, for now

More aggressive testing continues on the Skoda's SUV, seen in Mumbai:

Yes, you do. Infact one of his reasons was that 'I'm now so accustomed, that I dont want to change.' He drove my hyundai recently, and was putting on the wipers all the time when trying to turn.

But still, I would have thought, for a made for India variant, they would change, but seems like they're going to make it a distinguishing factor. Its quite a problem with smaller petrol pumps inside the city, given their lack of space. "saar, please turn around and come, wrong side filler saar"

Does TC here mean Turbo charged, or torque converter?

Torque converter, both of the engines are turbo charged.

re: The Skoda Kushaq crossover, now unveiled!

Will ESP and Traction Control be a standard default feature across all variants or at least for all automatic variants ?

That would be a good value added edge over Creta/Seltos.

Esp and hill hold is standard on automatic variants, not on manual though.

Even Ford has done it the proper way.
Not a matter of getting used to, except for once haven't mixed up the stalks side till now.

But for spirited driving in a manual transmission car on undivided roads, you really do need the stalks properly done. ( Not talking about idiots who don't use indicators or drive with hi beams permanently ON )
It is just natural ergonomics.

Glad the 1.5l EVO engine is coming not just with manual, but across all variants.
Had assumed it would be offered exclusively with DSG and confined to top two variants.
Guess everyone is following Kia's strategy of making customers confused with the variants of a single model rather than being confused with the competition.

Don't think the 1.5l has TC anywhere else.

Guess the developing markets and sub 15 lakhs segment would appreciate the lower cost and peace of mind that the TC gives, while the developed markets and 15+ lakhs segment would appreciate the DSG, hence they didn't bother with a TC for the 1.5l.

Because of standardization and interchangeability, they don't want to spend anything extra on the cars as Skoda's profit are pretty thin on the new suv already.

Going the Kia way is best for everyone i think, there's a variant for all, no confusion whatsoever, i always hated Hyundai for not offering the automatic in the top variant or just offering the automatic in the lowest variant. Now Hyundai and kia are leading in the number of variants and their sales are going up.

The torque converter gearbox is there in the 1.0 tsi, it has pretty decent power figures and i think it would be enough for everyday user and would return decent fuel economy as well. And for enthusiast you have the 1.5 tsi in 5 trims including the DSG with paddle shifters!

With the Skoda Kamiq and Seat Arona testing here, thought there will have some uique transmission with the 1.5TSI.

Even in Australia they skipped the 1,5TSI / DSG combination favoring a 1.4TSI/ 8 speed TC combination.

Quote:
Because the newer engines and dual-clutch transmission are more efficient, production is being prioritised for markets where they’re required to meet those strict emissions rules.

Australia isn’t on that list, and will therefore receive the existing Golf’s turbocharged 1.4-litre engine – which is now only manufactured with an eight-speed torque converter automatic.
