Its not a bad thing too. Cars with a lower centre of gravity are more stable and have better dynamics.
In India people are just going for higher Ground clearance vehicles due to bad roads.
If a car can offer a good balance of interior space and decent ground clearance 180mm and yet still not be too tall, it will have better driving dynamics.

For all the members who are wondering about the looks of The Kushaq, let me help!

90% of the Concept shown at Auto Expo is what Skoda had said the production car (Kushaq) will look like. I am pretty sure the exterior will be exactly alike and that 10% change would be mostly related to interior.

Looks butch and muscular. A competitive pricing would pump up the sales of Skoda India. By the way is there a 1.0 TSI + TC variant? Or only a 1.5 TSI + DSG combo as the only auto variant?

This one looks close to the production version design.

Official note from ŠKODA:

ŠKODA KUSHAQ: Design sketches offer a preview of the new SUV for the Indian market

› ŠKODA incorporates the striking design of the VISION IN concept study into the series production version of the midsize SUV
› The ŠKODA KUSHAQ marks the start of the INDIA 2.0 product campaign
› The official launch of the new KUSHAQ is set for 18 March 2021

Quote:
ŠKODA AUTO has adapted the MQB-A0-IN version of the Volkswagen Group’s Modular Transverse Toolkit specifically for India. As part of the INDIA 2.0 product campaign, it is the first of four models from the ŠKODA and Volkswagen brands to be manufactured locally in India. The world premiere of the ŠKODA KUSHAQ will take place on 18 March 2021.
Quote:
The first design sketch shows the powerful front of the new ŠKODA KUSHAQ, whose name is derived from the ancient Indian language of Sanskrit. The word ‘Kushak’ means king or emperor. The sharply cut, two-part front headlights, which extend to the wide ŠKODA grille, create a prominent appearance. The impressive front bumper with underride protection emphasises the athletic look of the SUV.
Quote:
The second sketch shows the rear of the new ŠKODA KUSHAQ, which has a clear structure and is framed by an elongated roof spoiler and a rugged rear diffuser in the bumper. The taillights of the midsize SUV feature the brand’s trademark crystalline structures, and the ŠKODA lettering appears in block capitals on the tailgate.
Quote:
In terms of technology, the ŠKODA KUSHAQ and the other upcoming volume models are based on the locally developed and produced MQB-A0-IN platform. This already complies with the new, stricter safety and emission requirements in India. With a planned 95 per cent localisation level for the new vehicles, the technical development is being carried out at ŠKODA AUTO’s Technology Centre in Pune.

re: The Skoda Kushaq crossover, now unveiled!

To me this looks like the Ford Fusion (India version) which came in the early 2000s and left pretty quickly. Especially when you look at it from the side. Straight lines throughout. This looks quite nice with not too many curves and the boxy feeling that one seems to get in the Korean boys. Are these the alloys that one would get finally ?

I hope so. Many test mules have been spotted with similar looking alloy wheels. Most probably for 1.5l variants.

It actually looks very similar to the previous gen Creta to me, much shorter though !

With MG's plan to launch ZS Petrol at 8L, Kushaq at 10L makes no sense with no SUV like stance!

Not sure if that's much shorter than the previous gen Creta - that was 4270 mm and the Kushaq is reportedly 4.26 m - hardly much shorter. More importantly, the wheelbase (the official figure is revealed already by Skoda) is longer than the new gen Creta and Seltos. This would translate to a better seating space but this will probably be at the expense of boot space.

Interesting! An 8 Lac sticker price would be good for MG ZS. However Skoda will definitely be worth a premium over a brand like MG IMO.

Plus these are all crossovers, the MG ZS hardly has a more SUVish stance

From the side profile I feel I am looking at the jacked up version of Polo especially the straight lines from A pillar to C pillar. Must appreciate them for sticking close to the concept design with minimal changes.

Somehow got a feeling that they can have sliding rear seats or something similar. Skoda will definitely not go for 330L boot that was reported somewhere on the forum.

The media drive conducted everyone was tight lipped about anything on interiors so might be some new or say first in segment features coming up from Skoda.

And then they add their tag line "SIMPLY CLEVER!!"

re: The Skoda Kushaq crossover, now unveiled!

Happen to spot the Kushaq on the Pune Ahmednagar highway. It doesn’t seem to be as tall as the competitors. It appeared more as a crossover than a SUV. There were four passengers seated in the car. The length seems similar to creta/seltos. The front had the characteristic Skoda grill. Couldn’t click the pic of the front. Alloys were similar to the ones seen during the media drives. Got a shot of the rear.
