Damn, that's some clever messaging!! The person who came up with this deserves an award just for this one ad!!

Re: Tata Motors takes a sly dig at the new i20

It's a cheeky dig but I feel they didn't need to explain it! Leave it with the message missing the 20 i

Good to see Altroz doing well deserved numbers - they should bring the automatic soon and capitalize on this momentum

It is mildly amusing and clever but it does give the feeling that the creator left school a few years earlier than they should have.

That's a brilliant ad. It's just too brilliant :-). For the first time in more than a decade, the i20 is under pressure and from an Indian company which makes the news even more sweeter.

Re: Tata Motors takes a sly dig at the new i20

To be frank. The i20's over optimistic pricing itself made it out of competition. But then Kia Sonet and Hyundai Venue are raking in those numbers so what's Hyundai got to lose?

I saw very few latest i20s on the road and they look droopy for real. Hyundai now makes better interiors but very opinionated exterior which look great when new but age quickly.

The Altroz has its path almost clear until the New Baleno comes in whenever it does.

Re: Tata Motors takes a sly dig at the new i20

Some brains. Nonetheless, TML should nudge itself into introducing a proper auto transmission for this well-designed car.
A turbo petrol with automatic transmission from Nissan-Renault due is right next and within reach of buyers with similar budgets.
Tata's should capitalise until Maruti reintroduces the next iteration of Baleno.
Its not reaching at the top, but sustaining it requires efforts and that is what Tata’s should do!

Re: Tata Motors takes a sly dig at the new i20

I have a different viewpoint.

i20 sales are dwindling solely due to it's high price.

Altroz could actually have reached closer to Baleno sales if there weren't so many QC issues. Today even with many complaints, it sells approx. 7K every month. Baleno sells 17K. With zero quality issues, they could have added another 5K per month and those numbers would have come from Baleno sales.

Did they hire a 5 year old to run their account again? This is pretty cringe. Do we ever see Hyundai/Kia take a dig at Tata? Or how they sell Creta 3-4 times more than Harrier?

Re: Tata Motors takes a sly dig at the new i20

Had Tata provided a 'smooth' 4 Cyl 1.2 in the Altroz, it would have beaten several other cars as well in the segment as well.

Getting beaten on the sales chart may now prompt Hyundai to either reduce the prices, or introduce a cheaper entry level 'Era' variant.

Re: Tata Motors takes a sly dig at the new i20

This is not a clever move and can boomerang any time. Earlier Tata's digs were related to safety. So, they could get away but here the difference in figures is marginal. Altroz making I20 disappear is far from reality. Either with a price correction or by offering the diesel automatic combo from mid variants, Hyundai can overtake Tata very easily.

No offense to anyone but acts like these do not deserve a pay hike. Pay hike should be for them who make Altroz a better car to buy and to own.

But also due to chip shortage it looks like. Creta launched in SX Executive without infotainment system suggests Hyundai has felt the pinch.
The i20 not only has the infotainment in place but also digital dash aswell. So it looks like Hyundai has reduced factory dispatch for the i20 till chip issue is sorted.

Re: Tata Motors takes a sly dig at the new i20

There is nothing sly about this and Tata might be pushing it too far here. Hyundai should remind Tata who gave them all those torque converters we see in the Safari & Harrier.

Still, it's always good when a safer car outsells its rivals, doesn't matter who the manufacturer is. Maybe Tata can gloat just a little bit.

Re: Tata Motors takes a sly dig at the new i20

Credits where credit is due, Altroz seems to have checked off all the rights boxes for Tata and customers. (Expecting delivery of my brother's Altroz XZ Diesel next week, after 3 months of follow up owing to Covid lockdown)

However, when you look at the bigger picture for TATA, that's big talk from someone who even after 2 years, cannot figure out how to put in an Audio head unit without bugs in a "20" lakh plus car, and the "20" missing "i"s could easily be the 20+ "i"ssues people are having with the Audio unit in the said car...
