Yes, very true. I meant chauffeur driven who occasionally drive themselves.

Mahindra Marazzo AMT to be launched later this year

Veejay Nakra, CEO, Mahindra & Mahindra Auto Division, has confirmed that the Marazzo AMT will be launched later this year.

The Marazzo AMT will be powered by the same 1.5-litre diesel as the standard Marazzo. This engine produces 121 BHP and 300 Nm and it will be paired with a 6-speed AMT.

There have been rumours about Mahindra pulling the plug on the Marazzo in the recent past. Nakra has laid all speculations to rest by confirming that the company has no plans to discontinue the MPV.

The Marazzo competes with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Toyota Innova Crysta. The MPV hasn't been setting the sales charts on fire lately, which had led to speculations that it could be discontinued.

Re: Scoop! Mahindra Marazzo Automatic spied

I feel that this is too little and too late. Another mediocre attempt by Mahindra to save a car with such huge potential.

The segment of Marazzo and the price it commands clearly deserves a torque convertor unit or a proper automatic instead of a stop-gap measure AMT which will further bog down the performance of the vehicle.

The Marazzo also needs a petrol powerplant that's CNG compatible. It will then put up bit better numbers IMO.

Not really : automatics typically are smoother at changing gears making for a smoother ride in the backseat + generally cannot be as easily abused : no riding the clutch, etc.

However, not sure I can say the same about the AMT.

Re: Scoop! Mahindra Marazzo Automatic spied

My former boss bought a new Marazzo about 2.5 years ago and is happy with the vehicle. He says the vehicle is underrated. But, off late he's complaining about effort to operate the clutch, that too in heavy Bangalore traffic.
Though it's a good move by Mahindra to introduce automatic, disappointed by this AMT avatar. AMTs on cars costing more than a million rupees is simply unpardonable, or, to put it mildly, unacceptable. Having driven AMTs in Maruti and Hyundai, i feel it's ok to have AMT on budget cars, that too mainly city-driven ones. Mahindra should have introduced a standard TC on Marazzo - a proper diesel automatic especially at a time when Maruti is yet to bring in its Diesel avatar in Ertiga/XL6 models would be a good bet...missed opportunity Mahindra..?

Re: Scoop! Mahindra Marazzo Automatic spied

I haven't personally driven/been in a Marazzo but by most online accounts this is a very competent MPV and given Ertiga/XL6's petrol only powertrain, there is a 13L (top end XL6) - 16.5L (starting price of Innova) price band where Marazzo can play really well. AKA the W5-W7 AT range of XUV500. Why can't it have the same engine/transmission options like the outgoing XUV500 and corner the "cheaper alternate to innova" diesel MPV market?

Almost a 20L car without push start button! Not sure what Mahindra expects from us
We are looking for a 6/7 seater car and Marazzo would be the first choice provided the AMT drives smooth and the push start button is also added.
