Rather they should give a good set of engine and transmission options for the S-Cross and the Brezza.

| ![]() Maruti Suzuki YTB sub-4m SUV to rival the Tata Punch Earlier this month, Tata Motors took the wraps off the Punch sub-4m SUV. While we await the price announcement, there are rumours of a Maruti Baleno-based model that could rival the Tata Punch. ![]() There have been reports of Maruti Suzuki working on a new crossover (codenamed YTB) since December 2020. The car will be positioned between the S-Presso and Vitara Brezza and is expected to compete directly with the Tata Punch. The YTB is likely to be based on the Heartect platform, and it could be offered with a 1.2-litre petrol engine. The revised engine is rumoured to be slightly more powerful than the one currently offered in the Baleno. The report states that the Baleno-based YTB could be unveiled in 2022. Source: LiveMint |

BHPian ![]() | ![]() Another Maruti on the Heartattack platform. Will be light, nimble and the 1.2L engine, as we all know, is a proven gem. But the platform ? No, I will stay away until they get it tested and prove themselves. It is time to make the move, Maruti. You can't sit back and relax expecting it to sell. The new generation customers have already started talking about how your cars are "not safe". Either take notice right now or I see another Nokia in the making. You could be crushed from being the market leader to a "we are here too" company. Either get rid of that platform and make a new low cost platform that is safe, or start selling Heartattack cars with the same level of safety that you have in EU. |

Not just the article, even in this thread there is no intent announcement via Auto expo etc. No design sketches, forget going afar spy shots. This makes me think if these model is only a paper tiger. I think Maruti just wants to float some news to keep its existing and prospective customers hooked towards itself.

| ![]() Is this crossover still on cards?. Given the pricing of the new Brezza, I hope we get something that's between the Ignis and the new Brezza. |

Yes! The YTB is still pretty much in development and will most likely launch early next year. Since Brezza is now pretty much the Ecosport of the segment (price wise), they definitely need their own Freestyle (Punch rival i.e.) to keep the lower price range buyers happy. |

This looks good and very proportionate but if that comes with 1L boosterjet then is it going to be enough? Last edited by Nilesh5417 : 2nd August 2022 at 22:46.

Sure the new Baleno is sturdy so it isn't a bad thing to develop an SUV on that. But I seriously hope for more differentiation! Quote:

| ![]() Looks like this will be what the XL6 is to the Ertiga. What we thought Baleno Based crossover meant was that the new car would have its platform and dimensions close to the Baleno, while looking different inside and out. But in Maruti Terms, "Based Off" literally means taking the base car and adding cladding and changing plastic bits to make it look different. Even the alloys are the same as the Baleno. I don't know why anyone would prefer this over the Brezza, except maybe for that Turbocharged engine will re-debut with this car. |

Distinguished - BHPian ![]() | ![]() The next SUV from Suzuki ( in India) is the next big launch next year, apart from Jimny. - The 1.0 booster jet engine is to make a comeback in this Coupe styled SUV. - The roof line does not taper steeply towards the rear like on the Futuro-e but it rather has a resemblance to the Baleno hatchback. -The front fascia with chrome-lined trapezoidal grille, low-set headlamps and high-mounted narrow LED DRLs embraces the new family identity debuted by the Grand Vitara. - Rumoured to have a strong Hybrid variant and likely to slot below the Grand Vitara in Maruti's product ine-up. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Link Last edited by volkman10 : 3rd August 2022 at 08:34. |

Distinguished - BHPian ![]() | ![]() Would Maruti Suzuki's upcoming 'YTB' get the ZEN Moniker or will it be 'Baleno Cross'? - Likely to have a Toyota sibling including a Strong Hybrid Version. - The model will be positioned at the premium end of the compact SUV market and will take on more expensive versions of the Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet. - Will be a NEXA Product Quote:
