VW Virtus to be unveiled in March 2022, India launch in May.

Despite potential delays due to the pandemic, we can now confirm that the VW Virtus launch schedule is on track. The model, a facelift of the car already on sale in South America, will make its global debut in March, and will have its India launch in the second-half of May 2022.

VW Virtus spied in the last lap of its testing, before its upcoming unveil:

Volkswagen Virtus will draw significant inspiration from larger VW sedans like the Passat. This is seen with the wide, rectangular headlamps, which should be LED-equipped, and in the simple grille with the single chrome band running across. There should be a large airdam in the bumper and well as angular foglamp inserts. The Virtus also seem to have a flatter bonnet than the Slavia in keeping with the brand differentiation. The two sedan are quite similar in profile with the slight coupe roofline but at the rear a more sedate two-part taillamp cluster is expected withe LED detailing.

Volkswagen Virtus should come with a significantly different interior aesthetic even those more of the switchgear and panels should be shared with the Slavia. There should be a more upright dash design with simpler, rectangular air vents, finished in a brushed aluminum and grey theme as well as a different placement for the 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment. The digital instrument cluster should make its way here too with other features like the single-pane sunroof, ventilated front seats, connected-tech, climate control, auto headlamps and wipers and LED lighting carried over. Although, there should be a different mix of variants with top-spec versions getting the GT moniker and sportier cabin accents.

Global Virtus is due for a facelift, and that is the model that will make its global debut in India.
It will also go on sale to Indian customers first, after which launches in South America and other markets will follow.

Virtus model range into standard and GT Line variants, the latter offering slightly different equipment and sportier styling accents on the more powerful powertrains.

Volkswagen to debut new mid-size sedan on March 8, 2022

Volkswagen is gearing up to unveil its new mid-size sedan in India on March 8, 2022. The car is likely to be called the Virtus.



The Volkswagen Virtus is based on the MQB A0 IN platform, which is shared with the Skoda Slavia. Like most VWs, the Virtus features a minimalist design with a familiar front fascia, while the interior could be inspired by the Taigun.

The Virtus is expected to be offered with 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre turbo petrol engines. In the Slavia, these engines are rated at 113 BHP / 175 Nm and 148 BHP / 250 Nm, respectively. A 6-speed manual transmission is offered as standard with both engines. The former gets a 6-speed automatic option, while a 7-speed DSG is available with the 1.5L engine.

In India, the Virtus will compete with the Skoda Slavia, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Honda City and Hyundai Verna.

This better not be The ALL NEW Vento Cup and Saucer edition or Highline Plus Signature edition or the Vento Sport.

They are at least a few years late on this. But hopefully they will be able to carve out a niche for themselves in the market and differentiate themselves from Skoda in some way.

Pretty sure they are serious on this one, but yes would have 100% believed you if they would have done this launch on 1st April 2022. However, I do think they might launch the ALL NEW Polo Cup and saucer edition next for the hatchback then , considering that VW have become nothing but a Troll in India with their launches AND the fact that the actual New Polo will invite a much higher tax bracket and will still take them time to sort out before they launch in India, unlike the Virtus Sedan which will fall in the same tax bracket as the old Vento.

You have high expectations! I would have just stopped at 2

But, whatever said and done, with a similar approach, they did manage to get good attention and booking numbers on Taigun. If their "actual" sales targets (not what everyone is believing or is made to believe) is something similar to that of Taigun, they may be able to pull it off with these multi-series reveals. Note that the "bad noise" is much less in Taigun thread than that in Kushaq thread - so, they seem to have done something better compared to Skoda.
