Believe me, I'm doing the same as you're trying to get best out of every drop out of my City CVT. 10-11 kmpl (urban) is City CVT territory and not what you'll get from the Hector DCT. If you get 10 kmpl from your Highway runs from Hector consider your self lucky. Basically, Hector DCT in comparison to other UV's is cheaper to buy but very expensive to run.

No-one. Masking tape, spray paint and elbow grease only. I'd done this earlier about 2-3 times on my Tucson so wasnt worried too much about getting it wrong.

Haha really?! Holy cow that is some real diy! I’m happy to see the spray paint matched the glossy black of the car, generally the sprays don’t give the same glossy finish.

I own one, purchased march 2020, and done around 4500kms, the DCT black petrol version and here is the feedback after a recent trip up the 36 steep curve Ooty drive
1. Space and driver comfort excellent
2. Voice commands- hardly use them - instead prefer steering controls
3. Noise insulation - very good
4. View for the driver excellent
5. Mileage - city 8 kmpl/ highways 10-11kmpl (full ac on 2 adults and 2 kids)
6. speeds not exceeding 110kmph and the steering feels a bit unresponsive
7. POwer drive is pretty bad. Infact i go to manual mode everytime i cross a hump. There were many occasions where i have to turn the AC off to negotiate steep uphill curves
8. Ability to smoothen the road shocks is amazing
9. My only problem is pathetic power delivery. Apart from that, a wonderful car

Thank you for that! We are about to pull the trigger on the Plus 6 seater DCT.

Could you clarify point number 7 please? I didn’t quite understand what you meant about power drive, and road humps requiring manual.

Is the power that bad uphill? Or is that when fully loaded? We’ll never be full up. Max ever is probably going to be about 260-300 kilos (2 humans, 4 puppers and luggage), with 50% of the time it being a single person, 40-45% two up and maybe 5-10% as above.

It’d be great if you could do a review. The Hector has zero user reviews so it’d be very useful..

Pretty cool DIY! Maybe start a thread with details of process, paint choice, etc? I for one would be very interested in it.

The blacked out version does look a lot better. We’re looking at the Plus and it’s got less of the bling to deal with so that’s an added bonus IMO.

55/60 is actually a percentage value.

Taking example of 215 , 55, R17 tyres -

Here 215 is the width of tyre/tire which is in contact with the road surface. 55 is the percentage of this width available as the side wall. so 215/55 gives side wall of 118.25 mm. Whereas 215/60 gives a side wall of 129 mm. So the difference is around 11 mm.

Also the last value R17/18 mentions the diameter of the wheel rim.

No. The increase in wheel size is offset by the decrease in side wall width. Net effect is only a 0.4% increase in overall diameter.

Is there any change with the suspension setup ? Pre-facelift had reports of complete uneven tyre worn out at 25-30K km .

Another area of concern were longevity of sensors as per owners and quality of plastic used at places other than dashboard.

More features like wireless charger and cooled seats is a welcome move.

Only the 5-seater was shown at the media event. So, no pics of the 7-seater.

Re: 2021 MG Hector Facelift : A Close Look

That's cramped for 7-seater as doesn't seems good for shorter adults even. The 5-Seater is anyday better than putting extra bucks on this one. I believe Fortuner & Endeavour have bit better in 3rd rows.

Let's see how competition fares.

Re: 2021 MG Hector Facelift : A Close Look

I just finished a drive to and from Lansdowne from Noida, and I've come back mighty impressed. This is by far the most comfortable mile cruncher I've ever owned. There's a 30 km stretch that I had to traverse which was pitted very badly. Not cratered, but extremely uneven because patches of the top surface had come of all through. For 30 kilometres. I did not feel a thing even though I could sense from the tyre noise that they're substantial jerky undulations.

This was my first longish drive in the Hector, and I can say that it excels in not tiring you out. The cabin is a nice and quiet place to be.

Mileage I got in the mountains was 11,on the highways 15,but surprisingly, on the EPE it was 13. Probably has something to do with driving a big car at 120kmph (that's the speed limit).

My main gripes are the low connectivity of the 4g network MG has provided, the small tail window, and the turning circle which is about the same as the Safari dicor.

Oh, and found the perfect spot for it to be team-stickered!
