Toyota is preparing to launch to the market to create a buzz in the Thai car market: the launch of a new Fortuner, the Diesel Mild-Hybrid powerhouse, which has been in the news of small movements coming off periodically in the past two years earlier.

All NEW Toyota Fortuner (3rd generation), to be built on the basis of the TNGA-F platform, puts on a Mild-Hybrid diesel engine, will be launched in Thailand. Next year, 2023 is the first diesel power tow mild-hybrid system in the SUV/PPV market in Thailand and Toyota's first for the installation of Mild-Hybrid power to SUV/PPV vehicles.

Details of the alternative power that will be stationed in the new Fortuner are the 1GD Diesel 4-cylinder DOHC 16-cylinder 2.8-liter engine with Turbocharger compressed air, etc., which will be towed with the Mild-Hybrid system, using the Alternator to play a short-term role, such as the timing of departure from a standstill and an overtaking period to reduce the use of oil to reduce pollution while accelerating. It also relies on battery power to nourish the air conditioner so that the engine stops working momentarily, all of which will have an optimistic effect on both acceleration and fuel economy, increasing torque from low cycles.

The sale price expected to be more expensive than the original Fortuner Legender.

Well, I guess by the time it launches here, current generation Fortuner will be touching the 70 lac mark, and the mild-hybrid variant will be launched at 80 lac

On a serious note, the current 2.8 lit engine is the last of a dying breed of "pure" high-displacement diesels - one must grab it while there is a chance.

Absolutely. Lucky are those who have the BS4 ones. Fair enough to say, they made a good investment. If they intended, they could sell it at the same price they bought it, and there would still be a bunch of buyers.

Re: Rumour: Next-gen Toyota Fortuner coming in 2022

Judging by the way they are launching special edition after special edition (which is just a bunch of accessories/bodykits added on as an afterthought, I would say they are trying to clear out current stock / milk it for as much as possible before they launch the next one.
Happened to us abroad when we bought a new 60th anniversary edition Landcruiser (which was just the same thing as the landcruiser sold for the past 3 years but with a new screen and a badge job) at inflated prices and felt real special for all of a year before they launched the completely revamped landcruiser for just a little bit more

Toyota is very efficient with their inventory clearing, just see the way they launched the last gen lexus ES300 here at the very end of it's product cycle right when global sales were dying down as people considered it outdated. Launching it here as a new product meant they managed to get a lot of interest and cleared them out before they launched the completely revamped next gen ES300 the very next year. These are all very good business decisions but I would say as the customer, its our job to be skeptical when they launch these special editions with barely any difference over the normal version except bragging rights.

Re: Rumour: Next-gen Toyota Fortuner coming in 2022

The engine of the fortuner is quite lethal as is, the enthusiast in me makes me wonder what a tune to the engine with the hybrid combo can do! Can be an absolute monster, quite exciting! Just hope that the prices aren't pushed up further with this new combo.

Most of the Fortuner owners who I know use their cars extensively, a hybrid drivetrain should also imply fuel savings due to increased efficiency. While the savings may not have a day-night difference, it will yet add up in the long run if the cars are used for 1L+ Kms. Personally, I have always found the hybrids of Toyotas to be at the top of their game, given that the fortuner is one of the crucial breadwinners for Toyota in India I am sure they will be serious about the upgrades offered on this car.

I wonder why Toyota is not considering bringing RAV4 Hybrid and Venza in India. I'd rather buy those than compact German crossovers.

Toyota SW4 2024: new generation will be hybrid and with luxurious interiors.

Rumour: Next-gen Toyota Fortuner coming in 2022-1.jpg

The launch is expected for the coming months, with arrival in the first markets from 2023.

- The model will abandon the current platform and will be built on the TNGA-F architecture (the same one used by the Tundra pickup truck and the Sequoia and Land Cruiser SUVs, and which will also sustain the next Hilux).

- The base meets the strictest security standards and offers all support for hybridization.

- The SW4 2024 will already be born electrified and will feature versions equipped with hybrid-light system of 48V. In place of the alternator, a small capacity generator will assist in initial acceleration and other situations to induce fuel consumption and pollutant emissions.

- The system will be associated with the 2.8 turbodiesel propellant - a novelty, since type system are usually combined with gasoline engines.

- Depending on the market, traditional versions without electrification will also be offered, including simpler settings with manual exchange. Traction, like today, could be 4x2 or 4x4.

- The interior promises to draw attention with new central console, state-of-the-art multimedia better positioned in terms of ergonomics, better quality materials in the finish, digital instrument frame and benches with design more focused on luxury and comfort. The three-row configuration with up to 7 seats will be maintained.

-The launch is scheduled to take place in the coming months, starting with countries in Asia.

Coming months?

If it is true, and that Toyota has skipped the decade old generational changes to a huge jump to the TNGA-F platform, then I am not surprised with the rumoured next gen Innova on the TNGA-C platform. The TNGA-F platform will simply be too expensive for the Innova.

Ofcourse with the tighter emission norms in next year, we would be the first ones to get the mild? hybrid diesels than other markets who would have the current engines chugging along. Ofcourse, I am daydreaming about a V6 diesel (single turbo version?) in the Fortuner...but...at about 75+ lakhs (gulp) Stupid Ford.

Next Gen Fortuner should also get a V6 Diesel.

Expected torque output just under 700 NM.

^ My prediction (But may be spoiler )

..and approximately 2/3rd of it is tax. The most happiest among us will be, the Government. When launched they'll get a lot more income without doing nothing with tax rates; means they can buy more Innovas and some Fortuners. Absolutely no ifs.

Eight-digit price tag is coming up, along with a possible additional Cess for 6-cylinder engines. My prediction, I'll thank God if I'm wrong.

Re: Rumour: Next-gen Toyota Fortuner coming in 2022

Toyota New Fortuner, to use hybrid diesel engine.

Rumour: Next-gen Toyota Fortuner coming in 2022-1.jpg

Quote:
This family car is predicted to get a complete change, such as a new engine with hybrid technology.

The switch to the new platform was made to improve efficiency, comfort and safety. Meanwhile, the new hybrid engine reduces exhaust emissions, while making the car more fuel efficient.

Apart from the launch of the latest Innova, Toyota is apparently also preparing the latest generation of Toyota Fortuner.
Quote:
Unlike the Innova, the New Fortuner will retain its flagship diesel engine. More precisely the innards of 2,800cc turbo diesel coded 1GD-FTV which will later be mated with an electric motor and battery.
Quote:
The latest Toyota Fortuner is also rumored to be using the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) F model platform.

The platform is designed specifically for cars with ladder frame chassis and is already used in some of the latest Toyota cars, such as the Toyota Tundra in the United States or the Toyota Land Cruiser 300.

This is in contrast to the TNGA base in the All New Innova which converts rear-wheel drive (RWD) to front-wheel drive (FWD). Likewise with the use of hybrid gasoline engines, not hybrid diesels like the Fortuner.

Re: Rumour: Next-gen Toyota Fortuner coming in 2022

Just curious, the Fortuner suffers from DPF clogging issues if the engine cannot run for long durations and/or on higher RPMs. If they use electric motors mated to the same engine, won't the city drive, which allows for the car to switch to electric motors frequently, exacerbate the DPF issue ?
