Brezza has sold more than 6L units till now. Assuming just 20% are automatic, they have sold more than 1L AMT's in Brezza. They could have brought 6AT long back if they wanted. Even if they bring now, do they have facility/Expertise to manufacture it locally? Importing the gearbox is not going to help Maruti in terms of pricing. Maybe the Gujarat plant controlled by Suzuki will have provision for making them locally to bring costs down.

PS: Brezza is a well built vehicle with neutral looks leaning to pleasing side. With 6AT and 6 airbags inside them, there are many like me who have in the past vowed to never buy a MSIL car to get converted in no time and bring one home.
Brezza, if I remember right, had only a diesel engine till the BS6 norms kicked in just at the onset of the pandemic. Just about 1.5 lacs of the total sales might have been for the petrol engine, and of which, if we assume 20% were AT, just about 30,000 Brezzas would have been sold with the 4 speed torque converter AT.

Having already lost the sub-4m advantage due to the 1.5L NA petrol engine, MSIL is fighting hard to keep the prices of most of its variants under Rs 9.99 lacs ex showroom in most states, as in several states, there is an additional 5% road tax and 1% TCS if the ex showroom prices touch Rs 10 lacs. That is Rs 60,000 gone to the government coffers for just a one rupee increase in price from Rs 9,99,999. With these type of absurd rules, Maruti will never bring in 6AT to the mid variants at least, which are already retailing tantalizingly close to the 10 lacs mark.

Sunroof is still possible for MSIL. After all for a sub4m car, you don't need to give a panoramic thing. Just a small one will do. But do they have the capability to give 6 airbags and a new auto box? I somehow feel the guy giving tidbits is confusing with Vitara Brezza and Grand Vitara.

Also wouldn't it be a major strategic blunder if Brezza gets all this first and the so called premium Nexa range vehicles like XL6, S-Cross, Ciaz etc still does not get any of these?
All in one shot my friend, it is true. I don't know where the rumours of Grand Vitara surface from time and again but there does not seem to be any plan for ANY Vitara for India except for the one that exists.

Suzuki's entire range is going to be updated over next 3-4 years and all of this stuff will percolate to entire line up of Suzuki. After that, once the EVs start coming in, then of course there will be more new stuff coming in to justify increased prices as has been the case for other makers as well.

The 4m size cap seems to be a price cap method for future 1L turbo engine variants introduction. At least that is my guess.

re: The 2022 Maruti Brezza, now launched at Rs 7.99 lakh

The 1.5 diesel is the need of the hour. I cannot imagine the leading manufacturer doing such sloppy work. They have both the volumes and the scale to do it. The Ertiga, XL6, Brezza, Ciaz and SCross will surely benefit from the diesel engine. Being 1.5, it can also be introduced in the Swift, Dzire and Baleno at a later stage if need be without any impact on the tax bracket of these vehicles. SUV's and petrol engines don't go well together. Only a torquey diesel will do justice, especially so in an era of insane fuel prices.

6 AT with the 1.5L engine has my mouth watering. The only reason the ertiga is not in my garage is due to the 4 speed AT. If they can bring this setup to the ertiga, that would be great.

Q2 2022, not Q2 FY 21-22.

Apologies for the confusion.

re: The 2022 Maruti Brezza, now launched at Rs 7.99 lakh

Few observations:-
Snazzy design, like newer hyundai’s
Sunroof
360° parking camera
Bigger touchscreen
Steering lift up from swift
Smart hybrid
Paddle shifters.
Quite a comprehensive update.Think this will be marketed as a new generation model although the design overall is an evolution. Hope they bring in a new automatic gearbox and phase the 4 speed unit out.

First Maruti to get Paddle shifters and Sunroof Didn't like the Triber like front though.

The giant awakens! As expected, MSIL will be launching updated products like crazy in 2022-23 after a silent 2020-2021.

Paddle shifters? Great. Rear looks ok but WTH is up with that front face.

Also now I firmly believe that these pictures are intentionally leaked by Suzuki marketing department. Otherwise how come all the photos are of exciting new features at perfect angles to highlight them and yet Suzuki doesn't stop these "illegal" leaks.
