This is fun. Hyundai does it's media drive in North of India and Suzuki does it's media drive in Chennai.

Re: The 2022 Maruti Brezza, now launched at Rs 7.99 lakh

Maruti has given good upgrades to the Brezza which I think were much awaited. The car looks good and interiors have been revamped to look modern and special. The Lxi variant is very bare bones though. Providing sunglass holder, luggage lamp and rear defogger wouldn't have cost Maruti lot and buyers will not mind spending additional Rs. 4000 to Rs. 5000 for the same.

Personally, good effort Maruti.

It has become a 'rinse-repeat' phenomenon with respect to vehicle pricing these days. I couldn't stop myself from making this:

Story of my life and i kind of represent the the frustrated man with the briefcase . I see people around me splurging money on new cars ( some even don't care to take a TD) and here I am still thinking about fuel calculations, petrol vs diesel, loan interest rates, recession, inflation.

Looks mini evoque-ish from these angles. Brezza is one of the very few sub4m crossovers which look proportionate from every angle. This new one too looks nice and with improved interiors and features(specially 6 speed TC) seems appealing.

However the pricing definitely seems kinda high for a sub4m but it’s understandable as it doesn’t get the sub4m benefits due to the 1.5L engine. Personally would like a Zxi AT dual tone at ~15L OTR Bangalore provided it matches or betters the previous gen’s GNCAP rating.

Re: The 2022 Maruti Brezza, now launched at Rs 7.99 lakh

I've been in the market for a new car for a while now, and have been waiting for the Brezza launch all this while. The old Brezza's proportionate looks and larger peppy 1.5 ltr engine have always appealed to me, but the low rent interior was a huge put off. Parking space constraints at home and Bangalore traffic necessitate a sub 4mtr vehicle.

After reading reviews of the seemingly strangulated K15C motor, the price of this new Brezza and the excessive plastic cladding I feel like I made a mistake waiting all this while. Awaiting reviews and a look at the car in the metal with fingers crossed that it looks better than in the photos.

Re: The 2022 Maruti Brezza, now launched at Rs 7.99 lakh

The new Brezza definitely looks potent and better than the outgoing model on various counts. However, the over optimistic pricing is a downer of sorts IMO. It is a bit surprising given that Maruti generally price their products really well. With this kind of pricing and only one engine option, once the new launch euphoria settles down, don't be too surprised if Nexon continues to rule the roost as far as sub-4m SUV/crossover segment is concerned .

Re: The 2022 Maruti Brezza, now launched at Rs 7.99 lakh

Though the new Brezza definitely has its pros, I am largely disappointed with the overall package all things considered. Was waiting for this launch ever since the 2020 facelift and I do feel let down.

Though pragmatically I dont think maruti did too much wrong given the current market scenario, Here are some points where I think they went a bit awry.

1. Pleasant to Sporty: To me Brezza always appealed as a decent, practical and well rounded car. It was understated and thrived on being the car that ticked the most boxes. Now however, they have decided to give it a more flashy vibe which I think is removed from the character of the car that made it so appealing to a large spectrum of buyers. It does not have the engine to pull it off this transformation, while adding the 'hot' and 'techy' embellishments have just spiked the prices out of its segment. The car now gives out a confused personality which is neither here nor there.

2. Could have added a couple more variants: I feel they could have added at least one more variant between the VXI and the ZXI (MT) without the sunroof minus a few feelgood features which could have been priced at around 10.10L to 10.20L (Ex-Showroom). That would have been a really sweet spot. To me, the sunroof is a liability with long term ownership. A solid 'non-sunroof' variant is a miss.

3. Price brackets: They should have kept the price of the ZXI plus (MT) down by reserving features like ambient lights and the Heads up display for their upcoming SUV modelled on the Toyota Hyryder. The current price of 12.30L (EX- Showroom) puts it on par with the Seltos HTK Plus and the Creta S variants (which are much better deals) simply for cosmetic upgrades.

4. Just a throwaway observaion: Maruti wants to make the Brezza 'youthful and energetic' by throttling their linear 1.5L engine and decreasing the HP and Torque numbers. Go figure.

I am in 100% agreement with you on this. The current vehicle that I own, I haven't downed the door glasses in last 10 years because of the dust and pollution. I wish instead of sunroof they had the 9 inch display as an option. I too am contemplating to go the Nexon route now. Will test drive and see how Breza is in comparison to Nexon.
