Team-BHP Support ![]() ![]() | ![]() When I reviewed the Vitara Brezza facelift back in 2020 - paddle shifters were sorely missed. Reason? Not for a sporty experience - just to be able to hold on to a higher ratio. The old 4-speed automatic had a very tall fourth gear - but was not comfortable to drive on the highways because it couldn't hold on to that ratio! The moment you wanted to overtake, even if the speeds were above 100kmph, it shifted down to 3rd and screamed to glory, because lesser ratios meant significant gap between them. The gearbox would have been manageable on the highway if they had provided an option to manually select the gears, or given paddle shifters IMHO. Maruti seems to have improved on both fronts - provided a modern 6 speed (hopefully not an AMT when finally revealed) and provided manual control. Welcome move there! PS: Whats the negative of having flappy paddles? They don't take up any useable real estate, are almost out of sight and can be totally ignored if someone doesn't prefer it. | ![]() K15C engine had a very poor review on the lighter XL6 which is based on the Heartec platform which is quite a lite platform. I wonder how that engine will perform on Brezza which is based on a slightly heaver platform (as per Suzuki standards!)? Unless they have improved the K15C engine I wouldn't have lot of hope from a performance point of view! |

When you talk about performance - other things being equal - (almost) all that matters are power(and torque)-to-weight curves, the quality of the tyres and road surface.

| ![]() MSIL seems to have doing everything right with the Brezza. I like all the features they are offering so far. I wonder if Brezza will be offered with Auto Climate Control like the Baleno right from the base variant. If priced right, this will be a Nexon and Venue killer absolutely. And duh, paddle shifters are sore requirement. And shame on MSIL should they fail to provide them. Last edited by Bismaya : 12th June 2022 at 21:47. |

It's a myth that paddle shifters are only useful in fast cars.

Off-topic: Jeremy Clarkson's impact on us can not be emphasized enough, with your post being an example. I'm another as well; for my brain simply cannot use the term "paddle shifters" and can only say/write flappy paddle. That's what it is - a flappy paddle! ![]() Back to the topic - I first remember Clarkson mentioning "flappy paddles" when he was reviewing a car somewhere around Season 10 of BBC UK's Top Gear. He didn't sound enthusiastic about the paddles at all. In any case, here's a special Top Gear flappy paddle compilation: |

| ![]() thanks for the post. The alloy's resemble those of the Venue. Infact the entire styling gives the vibe of the older venue. I hope the interiors had been upgraded. The UC which we almost booked before selecting the Glanza had a great exterior, good driving comfort but the interiors were pretty average for a 13 lakh car. In comparison the Glanza interiors are much better. |

| ![]() Looking at new pics and the video, I am now having second thoughts about buying the Brezza. I think the side cladding and the wheel arches have destroyed the look of the car. It also makes the wheels look so puny and gives the impression that the car is resting on a plastic structure. The more you look at it the uglier it seems to get. Its not helped by the poor design of the alloys in my opinion. The rear is decent but the front design gives a botched vibe. The fog lights are a bit of a joke to be honest. I think maruti overthought and overdid the design because they were too cagey about upgrading one of their most successful vehicles. Now the outgoing model despite its ancient interiors look much better and well proportioned. Fingers crossed that toyota has not abandoned the Urban Cruiser project and can make some improvements over the brezza like the current glanza over the baleno. The alloys as well as the front design differences of the glanza vs the baleno is a great example how much significantly better a car can look with just some tasteful tweaks and the right design choices. |

Yes , Have done an advanced booking by paying 11k for the top end auto variant few weeks back. So , Did a follow up call with my dealer yesterday to see if there is any update and he confirmed 30th is launch date but they don't have further updates as training has not yet started for the new brezza. |
