This looks like a great package. Have they revealed the prices as of now? This will be a cause of concern for cars like Superb which basically have the USP of size/ cabin space in comparison to entry level cars from German Big 3.

This is what I was told. There is a good set of customers who are asking for GT and this is what BMW will offer. That said frameless door and coupe rear were a big selling points for GT.

Interesting, the 320Ld reviews. From what I can see:

Upsides:
Longer overall
Longer rear doors & windows
Spacious & padded out rear seat
Fuller headrests
Pano sunroof
Powered tailgate
Wireless AA & CarPlay
New colours

Downsides:
Softer suspension + 6 mm higher
Handling more ponderous (comparatively)
No sun blinds (not on SWB either) but the longer windows/pano sunroof can make the interior warmer

Anything else?

Launched at Rs. 51.50 lakhs ex showroom - 330Li Luxury Line

Rs. 52.5 lakhs ex showroom - 320Ld Luxury Line

Rs. 53.90 lakhs ex showroom - 330Li M Sport "First Edition"

4 lakhs more for the regular luxury line 320d vs the 320Ld and for the 330Li M Sport.

However the regular 330i Sportline is almost 10L cheaper than the 330Li luxury line.

The E class is 11L more but has hefty discounts running.

On road in Bangalore for the Luxury line will be 66-67L without discounts based on my calculations.

I am seeing 48.3 lakhs for the 320d Luxury Line, so that's 4 lakh rupees for more legroom at the back and a panoramic sunroof. Wow, FAT profits for BMW all the way. The price difference will currently be higher than 4 lakhs as the 320d has discounts.

That said, it makes for smart business strategy & a neat way to pad up the bottom line. BMW must be thinking "our target customer pays 75000 for additional legroom on a single business class flight, so he will definitely pay 4 lakhs for more legroom for 10 years".

Would love to do a back-to-back rear seat comfort test of the LWB 3 & the 5. The 5-Series' rear legroom sucks, but the seat is awesomely supportive!

The difference in price for 330i and 330Li is almost 9Lakhs. That's a lot of money to pay to get 4.3 cm of extra leg room.

That is exactly what came to my mind, I made approximately 4cm with my fingers and was thinking "wow what a huge difference in leg room" /s

Why dont we think like this ?

For 330i petrol, for an additional 4 lakhs between 330i msport and 330i LWB msport we get
1. LWB with more space and better seats
2. 16 speaker Harmon kardon vs basic hi-fi audio
3. 360 surround camera vs reverse camera
4. Panoramic sunroof
5. Heads up display
6. Automatic tailgate operation and
7. Comfort access

Even between the 330i lwb luxuryline and 330i m sport for 2.6l difference it still gets
1. LWB with more space and better seats
2. 16 speaker Harmon kardon vs basic hi-fi audio
3. Panoramic sunroof &
4. Automatic tailgate operation

and misses on
1. gearshift paddles
2. gesture control and the other m-kit embellishments

If i could afford it now and was in the market for it i would definitely take the LWB msport. I find it better value than the regular one. As per most reviews its still great car to drive compared to the others in the class. That last degree of handling finesse which the regular 3 would provide over this is not needed for me.

i dont think this should be compared to the 330i sport which though i feel is sparsely equipped it has all the essentials but is the best value BMW 3 without a doubt.

PS : Not taking into account the discounts which the LWB should also get in the future

This isn't a fair comparison. 330i price you are comparing is the base Sport variant while the 330Li is in luxury trim. To do an apples to apples comparison:

320d Luxury Line=48.3L | 320Ld Luxury Line=52.5L
330i Msport = 49.9L | 330iL Msport = 53.90L

Intrigued to know what the "first edition" has extra?

So price difference is 4L not 9L. Its not great not is a fair pricing.

Will be interesting to see how the discounts pan out in a years time. The E200 expression ex-showroom after discounts in December 2020 was 49L. If MBIL continues to discount like this, this 3 LWB will be dead on arrival. But if BMW discounts the same way, it will make A4,C,S60 and even Superb and Camry feel its ripple effect. However this is wishful thinking, atleast for now. You never know how aggressive discounts become in the future.

Nonethelss, respect and kudos to BMW India for taking this much needed step in the right direction of making our luxury car market a LWB one like China. Hoping other brands and models join this bandwagon.
@Audi India- Wake up! Your turn now! A6L perhaps?

That was quick. Also add much better looking 848M alloys in the LWB:

Totally agree. The Sport trim is barebones.

Agree on the correct pricing / discounting effect. For example, the 41.5L ex-showroom for the 330i Sport made a mess of Skoda's vRS 245 pricing of 35.99L. Buyers may not have gravitated en masse to the Sport, BUT it did make some 245 buyers think twice about spending that much on a Skoda.

By the way, has any reviewer driven the 330Li yet? The 18" staggered setup should mitigate some of the body roll from the longer chassis.
