Think VW and Skoda have a great opportunity here. The fact is that if you want to book a Seltos, they are indicating 3-4 months for delivery (viz June or July), and for the Creta, it is 8-12 months. If these cars turn out to be as good to drive as we all expect, and Skoda - VW are able to produce them, you will see customers moving away from Hyundai (especially) and Kia to Skoda - VW. Once you have customers trying the car, the ownership experience will need to be delivered - but this could herald a turn around for the brands.

After all, to meet Zac Hollis’s target of 30,000 cars for 2021, including say 10,000 Rapids, 2,000 Octavias, 3,000 Superbs, and a 1,000 Kodiaqs, they need to move only 14,000 Kushaqs in 6 months - no big deal at all. If each of the Kushaq and Taigun gets to 3,000 units a month by December, I think Skoda VW will have a spring in their step. In life timing is everything, and timing could not be better for these cars.

It definitely looks like Taigun will be placed at the premium end of the scale. See Autocar article that was just published. Also, they have withheld many top end features from the Skoda Kushaq, such as ventilated seats, virtual cockpit, pano-sunroof etc. I presume these will be introduced in the Taigun.

Re: Volkswagen Taigun spied testing in India

Volkswagen Taigun media drive is happening in Goa on 23 and 24 March.
If the media drive is happening, is Team-BHP part of the drive?

Seems like Autocar has pulled down the page.

But the initial rumours were pointing towards the Taigun being cheaper than Kushaq, ain’t it?

Eventhough the dimensions are same as Kushaq, Taigun seems gallery and is having more road presence than Kushaq.

As per the reviews, 1.5 dsg in Troc provides better dynamics and performance than the same configuration used in Karoq. It will be interesting to see the comparison between Taigun and Kushaq, especially as Taigun is positioned as a more premium offering.

Re: Volkswagen Taigun spied testing in India

Differentiation with Kushaq will be in the interiors:

Production-spec Volkswagen Taigun: Interior

Quote:
On the inside, the dashboard will have a multi-layer effect with subtle chrome bits and body-coloured bits as well, depending on the exterior paint shade. The SUV will come with a long list of features that include a sunroof, a 10-inch infotainment screen as well as a fully configurable digital infotainment screen to name a few.

Re: India spec Volkswagen T-Cross to be unveiled at 2020 Auto Expo. EDIT: Named Taigun

Wow. Embargo for unveil event? This is such an unnecessary step by step launch, considering the fact that this is same as Kushaq except minor changes in the features list. Apart from price which VW is not going to announce tomorrow what is so exciting about Taigun that VW believes unveiling should be concealed which otherwise will kill the enthusiasm.

Re: Volkswagen Taigun spied testing in India

Though the Kushaq has been enjoying the limelight, it looks like the Taigun can take the fight to the Koreans. If it comes with slightly premium materials and some of the feel good features (Electric seat adjustment, Digital cockpit, panoramic sunroof), it will be a really good package. Also, I would like VW to take care of some of the cost cutting visible in the Kushaq - better wipers, better roofliner, better doorpads, auto up-down for all windows etc.

Re: Volkswagen Taigun spied testing in India

The Volkswagen Taigun will get a top-spec GT variant with exterior enhancements like red brake callipers and will also get a digital instrument cluster as seen on cars like the T-Roc.

Taigun will come to market around August-September 2021

Based on the article, Taigun will also get Ventilated seats, Manual gearbox with 1.5L TSI and Front parking sensors. Looks like it would come with all features and not making any feature exclusive to Kushaq as expected before.

BTW, what does single-pane sunroof mean? No Panoramic one?

The car was supposed to be shown to the media today, AFAIK. Has anyone from Team-BHP gone for the event?

Also, revealing an already showcased (close to production) car in March and launching it in Aug-Sep? A 6-month gap between the unveil and launch and the deliveries will obviously start even later. Even if they are able to generate hype from this unveil, most people will forget the car if they take 6 months to launch this.

I am one of the people waiting for this car. Really hope they price it sensibly. If they price it above Creta/Seltos (as some reports mention), selling this car will be really difficult. Creta turbo petrol top end is already almost Rs. 21L OTR.
