Toyota Glanza spied testing; could it be a hybrid?

A test mule of the Toyota Glanza has been spotted testing.

It is believed that the Glanza, which is essentially a rebadged Baleno might also get a hybrid powertrain. This particular test mule has an emission testing kit mounted at the rear.

Baleno prototypes have been spotted on the streets in the recent past. While no one knows of sure what Maruti might be testing, there are rumours about a hybrid version. The same powertrain could be offered in the Glanza.

The media report suggests that the cars could use a similar setup to the Swift Hybrid that was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. It was powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine producing 91 BHP and 118 Nm and a 10 kW electric motor generating 30 Nm. The latter is said to provide a torque boost and assist the engine while idling.
