Re: Volkswagen launches Turbo edition of Polo & Vento

As a Vento owner it saddens me to see how VW continues to milk an old cow, which now is way past it's expiry date. They are literally make a joke of themselves now.

I was at Service center last week for my 5th year servicing, and I told SA I am looking to upgrade maybe in mid of the year. His only hope as per him is Taigun, otherwise he thinks he will have to find a new job and I will have to probably find a different brand to take my business to.

Still sounds and looks better than the "cup edition".

Anyways VW , just kill the Polo and Vento. Both of them are 10 years old. Bring us a new hatch and sedan .

Re: Volkswagen launches Turbo edition of Polo & Vento

I think a few former Maruti Suzuki employees have joined VW Who on earth would ever plonk a turbo badge on an already turbocharged vehicle and make a mockery by slapping on some accessories?

I am sure the Germans would definitely be laughing hard at this joke by their Indian counterparts. It would also be a big discussion as to how they can sell an internationally phased out model here by such updates.

Re: Volkswagen launches Turbo edition of Polo & Vento

This evoked a bit of nostalgia. It took them some time to dish out this new edition. Else I am used to seeing a new one every other day. Great going (pun intended).

They should have come up with a 'covid edition', 'vaccine edition' (yes a sticker of syringe right on the butt/boot), 'RTPCR edition', 'Antigen edition' and so on to cope up with the new normal. What would be their next edition??!!! I am waiting!!!

If I am reading this right, these cars were already Turbo charged and now VW has just slapped a Turbo badge on them and called Turbo editions. Ok wut?!

I think the only new thing is the Comfortline version of the TSI Highline plus already available. So one can now get the TSI Polo in a lower trim than was earlier available.

Re: Volkswagen launches Turbo edition of Polo & Vento

Yes, VW deserves all the bashing for launching a lot of variants. But are we missing the fact that the 1.0 TSI now starts at 6.99 instead of 8.02 lakhs it was launched at? Isn't this a reason to celebrate?

I do know that the Rapid Rider starts at 7.75. But the Polo is based on a better equipped comfortline variant. Honestly, I am happy with this news. Am I missing something here?

Re: Volkswagen launches Turbo edition of Polo & Vento

The "Turbo" badge available on Amazon.in is more tasteful.

Finally VW has managed to bring an 'edition' with ZERO investment. When they provided the design specifications for this badge - 3M (the supplier for the double sided tape) and the local trim maker who makes the badge - would have told VW to simply pick a few hundred of them for FREE. would have been easier for them than going through the entire contracting & supply process.

Re: Volkswagen launches Turbo edition of Polo & Vento

The polo comfortline had the 1.0 mpi and now that is being phased out.
So this brings the 1.0 turbo petrol prices even lower. And it's safer compared to the similarly priced Swifts, Balenos and i10s.
Good times!

Re: Volkswagen launches Turbo edition of Polo & Vento

I understand why these cars deserve to be made fun of, for the sheer number of special editions that have been released.
But I find this to be incredible value for money @6.99 for the polo turbo edition, considering the fact that the underpowered comfortline MPI used to be available for the exact same price.
Even if we compare it to its competitors, nios turbo starts from 7.8 lakhs.
May not be a game changer by any means, but anyone who has test driven these German pocket rockets cannot deny the value for money offered by this special edition.

Re: Volkswagen launches Turbo edition of Polo & Vento

I get the jokes here, but just dig a bit deeper, and you will see there's some real good value on offer from VW under the garb of yet another 'Edition'!

Erstwhile Polo Comfortline: 75 BHP, Ex Showroom ₹6.96L
Erstwhile Vento Trendline: Ex Showroom ₹ 9.09L

Re: Volkswagen launches Turbo edition of Polo & Vento

While we are in VW bashing mode, i see few advantages with this turbo edition in comparison with its sibling:
1) Cheaper than Rapid ambition.
2) Gets cruise control.
3) Factory fitted leather seats. Skoda charges 17.7k for this.
4) Better looking alloys.
5) Slightly better interiors(its subjective though)
6) More color choices.

And yes, this edition might lose out few features compared to Rapid ambition.(like touch screen, steering mounted controls, LED DRLs, anti pinch window(?), some chrome accents)

First a TSI Edition, now a Turbo Edition? What's next, the Forced-Induction Edition?
