The fifth generation of Swift, which is highly evaluated by car lovers for its European car-like finish, will appear in July next year.

Basically, it will be a model change after keeping the previous concept, but the platform is expected to be newly developed.

since the current 4th generation also adopts a new platform that greatly contributes to the weight reduction of the car body, it is not known at this time whether the one used for the fifth generation is a completely new development or a significantly improved version of the current platform.

The design of the body on top of the platform is basically a keep concept.

It will be a slightly angular impression, but you can expect only Suzuki, which has a reputation for design ability

The power units to be aware of will continue to be available in 1.2L NA and 1.2L-based mild hybrids. Both are significantly improved, and the fuel economy performance and power feel are greatly surpassed those of the current mode

Swift Sport:

The 1.4-liter turbo of the current model will be installed with more refined, and of course a 6-speed MT will also be prepared. The price is modest, and the position of "conscience of the Japanese sports car world" is also unchanged

It's the only negative of what is arguably the best first car that a person could have.

Though gotta feeling that the next gen would be on a heavily revised Heartect platform than a brand new one.
Ofcourse top hat would be different and there will be a heavy push towards hybrids.

I hope it has 6 air bags and does not come with the dreaded heart attack sorry heart tec platform. Let's hope Maruti is listening. And also or a hybrid version and cruise control included is highly desired. No way I am buying only a liquid fuel version. Current gen alloys look much better. What is this trend among manafacuturers to spoil the looks of the alloys these days?

The other day I had a call from Maruti asking for feedback on the Swift and would I recommend the Swift to anyone since I own a 2019 model. I said no and gave examples how safer competitors are with 6 air bags et all and how the Brezza/S-Cross are good examples of a safe car but the Swift is not. I hope such feedback counts, we should do whatever we can (trolling is not the right way though) to wake up sleeping corporations.

According to a media report, the fourth generation Suzuki Swift will make its global debut in 2022, following which, Maruti Suzuki could introduce it in the Indian market.



The fourth generation Swift will reportedly be based on an advanced version of the Heartect platform. The car is expected to get a cosmetic refresh, however reports indicate that the changes won't be revolutionary. The interior could feature a larger touchscreen head-unit among other updates.

In the international market, the new Swift could be offered with a 1.2-litre petrol hybrid powertrain, the details of which are still unknown. Besides this, Suzuki is also likely to offer a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine.



In India, the car is expected to get the same 1.2-litre Dualjet petrol engine as the current model. It produces 89 BHP and 113 Nm and comes paired with either a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT.

Not impressed with the exterior front design. I do feel a kind of DB 10 vibe somewhere on the front design, though I cant put my finger on it. Overall a let down from these renderings, though will wait for the final product to pass judgement.

I just hope this time around they give the car a proper automatic, a TC or CVT.

Hope that at least after 15 years, Suzuki considers safety aspect of Swift too. Also, high time to introduce CVT in any vehicle besides Baleno!

Is it me or does the image, especially in that blue with the narrower headlights evoke memories of the current gen Kia Soul?



Particularly when you couple that with the thin slot where the grille traditionally would be on the Swift, it matches up with the Soul, what with it's focus on a chin mounted air dam. It might be a bit of a tortured analogy but it was the first that came to mind.

Will second the fact the headlights of the purported new Swift smack of the DB11 ones. Knowing Maruti I wonder how much focus group testing they'll do before giving the car some localised cosmetic makeovers before launch, if at all. I don't particularly remember previous iterations warranting any specific India focused changes.

Somehow the grille design and the Suzuki logo arrangement reminds me of Alto 800. As we know Maruti by now, expecting Swift sport is like waiting for fuel prices to come down. It will never happen.

Next Gen. Swift Sports:

- adopts a newly developed platform as well as swift, which will be the base model.

- This is a combination of a 1.4-liter in-line 4-cylinder turbo engine and an ISG 48V mild hybrid system

- with a suspension tuned specifically for sports and high-performance dual sensor brake support.

- In the cabin, it should be equipped with a larger touch display and a state-of-the-art head-up display.

- Swift's next model is expected to debut in the summer of 2022, and Swift Sports is expected to make its debut around autumn 2023.

The new swift looks too similar to the latest Hyundai Santro. Personally, I do not like this new direction with the minimal grill + weird angled headlights.

The Swift Sport concept scheduled to be shown at the Oct-21 Tokyo Motor show, now is deferred as the Show stands cancelled.

A new type of Swift Sports that is said to be a treasure of Japan. The 1.4-liter turbo will continue, and a 48v mild hybrid will be combined to address the environment. Scheduled to debut in May 2023

The next-generation Suzuki Swift looks set to be unveiled as early as mid-2022.

The updates will include an evolutionary styling and a newly-developed platform likely to shave weight and improve rigidity over the outgoing architecture.

If Maruti launched the Swift with the build quality of the S Cross or even the Brezza and the safety features of the Figo, they could price it at 1-1.5 lakhs more ex showroom and still bury the competition. Ditto with the Baleno.

Wonder what stops them doing it. They can always retain Wagon-R, Celerio and Ignis as light entry level small cars, along with the S-Presso.
