I saw a bright red chauffer driven Chevrolet Spark at Central Avenue road outside HDFC Bank, Chembur station area on Friday at about 11 am. A middle aged lady was sitting in the back seat. It was a registered car with GJ-17-xx-xxxx number plates. Couldn't get pictures due to heavy traffic.

Except for the center console, the rest of the car looked brilliant. IMO, it's a much better buy then the Palio Stile. Santro's , Wagon R's and specially the Zen Estillo better be prepared.

spark will be a competition to alto in terms of space.
spark alto santro wagon r
Overall length 3495 3495 3565 3520
Overall width 1495 1475 1525 1490
Overall height 1500 1460 1590 1660

since i will be buying my first car soon, i still thnk santro wuld be a better option than the spark and the rest.. unless chevy tweaks the dimensions.. wat say..

Chevrolet Spark coming next week

General Motors has somewhat confirmed that they would be launching their much awaited car Chevrolet Spark next week in the Indian market.
This car is basically the replacement model for the Daewoo Matiz which was earlier sold in the Indian market and is still loved by its owners.
The company said that the car would be initially manufactured at their Hallol (Gujarat) plant and is expected to boost the fortunes of the company.
Ankush Arora, vice-president, marketing and sales for GM India added: “We would be launching a single model of Spark with different trim levels. It is a 1000 cc vehicle and is expected to compete with the likes of WagonR, Zen Estilo and Santro.”
Market analysts believe that the company would have to price the car highly competitively to generate enough sales. The segment in which Spark would be entering is currently the most crowded segment in the Indian market and has models like Maruti Alto, Maruti Wagon R, Maruti Zen Estilo, Santro, Tata Indica Xeta.

And its a 4 cylinder engine. So the engine will be smoother than 800cc Matiz engine

So you want to buy based on just this data? You need to take a test drive, do research both online and offline, talk to previous owners (and specially t-bhp members), then arrive at the conclusion.

My guess knowing GM's history is they'll again go for premium pricing... the engine, ride and handling has to be really really good if they are to see decent sales figures... the centre mounted console will not be to everybody's liking for sure!!

If GM can manage to price it right between the Alto and the Santro/Wagon R , it can be a huge success.

Today had been to GM showroom since I had visited nearby place to check out Tyres for my Innova, They said Spark will be launched in Delhi in couple of days and should be available in India in couple of months, they mean delivery starts in couple of months.

I also asked them If they have Automatic version since I am looking for good small automatic city car. They said no Automatic at least as per their knoweldge.

Regards,

Ravi.
