Insane reach . What's more, their cars are also generally reliable & the after-sales service quality is maintained consistently.

A fitting ad:

One of the most important reasons why an MS will sell even if it has only 4 wheels and an engine.
Reliability and competent ASS network.

Kudos MS!

Very true, although I loved Jazz, Ecosport & Creta, the only reason I opted for SCross is just because...
1. Widespread ASC
2. They take customer complaints very seriously

Even if I were to use a car only within the city limits & knock off point #1, not sure if any other manufacturer adopts #2

Re: Maruti Suzuki now has over 4,000 service stations in India

That's humongous, everything, everything is humongous, number of showrooms, service centers, over the counter spare parts centers, and presence across India etc.

Availability of service centers in the proximity plays quite an important role in buying decisions for many, in-fact when I chose our Maestro it was solely because of availability of service center few streets away from our home, otherwise I would have gone for Activa again.

That said, what Kia achieved with just two cars to sell(if we don't count Carnival) and with comparatively very small network, in a short span, is too big to be ignored.

Kia-Hyundai duos' success with Seltos-Creta can be partly or fully attributed to Maruti! because Maruti has built huge customer base who were looking for an upgrade but didn't have one in the Maruti stable, and the upgrade requirements were perfectly met by Hyundai/Kia.

All the manufacturers selling good numbers in 10 lakh plus bracket should thank Maruti for setting the base. Also market as a whole is changing, previously Alto used to be entry point but now that has changed/moved to Swift/Dzire segment. The whole market is moving upwards, who knows a decade down the lane the whole Alto segment may dwindle & disappear.
