Volvo has revealed the updated XC60 for the 2021 model year. The SUV is expected to be launched in India later this year.



As part of the refresh, the XC60 gets a redesigned front grille, new front bumper and alloy wheel designs.



On the interior, the car gets an updated Android-based infotainment head-unit. The system has been developed in collaboration with Google and is said to offer a smartphone-like experience. With the new Digital Services package, users can get access to Google apps, Google Assistant, Volvo on Call app, wireless phone charging and the data required to run the service. The car is also equipped Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).



Besides the new infotainment system, Volvo has also updated the materials used in the cabin. The car gets a leather-free interior and City Weave textile upholstery.

In India, the XC60 facelift will be offered with a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine. This engine replaces the 2.0-litre diesel unit that currently powers the SUV. The oil burner comes in two states of tune- 187 BHP or 232 BHP.

How will the petrol only XC60 affect the spare parts availability of the current diesel XC60?

A dear friend has short listed the XC60 and the GLC as her next car. She’s more inclined towards the Volvo because there’s already an E-class and a GLE in the extended family and she’s not a fan of the service provided by Mercedes (cost and downtime, took over a month to replace the front bumper on the E).

Is it ok to get the current XC60 diesel? In a matter of months, Volvo is discontinuing the diesel and will be a Petrol ONLY model. Eventually, Volvo is going to be an all electric car company. Do you guys think it’ll hurt spare parts availability? I’m guessing it will.
Volvo already has a bad reputation for spare parts availability (couple of friends have them). Is it a good decision to get the current XC60? She wants a diesel only. I wish Volvo got the plug-in-hybrid petrol to India. Any suggestions? Thank you!

My friend few months ago got the xc60. His tail light got dinged by a motorcyclist and had a crack. It took Volvo 2 weeks to get the part. So in a nutshell with the current setup in India, parts will be an issue regardless of the drivetrain.

I am sure a company like Volvo won’t just abandon its customers because change of company philosophy. Diesel parts should still be available for a long time, but the wait might be little longer.

I would suggest go for petrol or wait for hybrid/electric version.

The modern volvo's are so good and they try to serve a different customer base other than those of the Germans. But there dealer network in South India, at least around Coimbatore, makes one no even consider there cars.
Why is that they are not able to build up a good dealer and after sales support? And how this concern in the Northern states?

No word on the XC 40 recharge.? They were due to launch it in July/August..It was even part of the Autocar electric drive earlier this month.. wonder why the delay.?

I think Volvo did confirm that the XC40 recharge has been pushed to 2022 due to the chip shortage.
