I am unable to get in terms with the nose. Is it the chrome lining or is it just that it's too weirdly low slung? I am not able to place why but definitely, for me, it's the most undesirable design in an otherwise lovely car. Maybe it will grow on me once I see it in the flesh.

If the chrome is black wrapped, will look beautiful and menacing in a white or silver body colour.

Yup, agree with you 100%, the grill is just too low slung for better aero dynamics and a lower drag coefficienct which for the new Octavia is 0.24, where as for most modern sedans is between 0.25-0.3. But alas this is at the cost of ruining the front looks of the car completely, as they probably didn't want to ditch their signature front grill.
I don't mind having a car with a better looking front & with a marginally higher drag coefficient.
The front grill is the only flaw I can find in an otherwise "simply an awesome car ! "

The new-gen Skoda Octavia is more plush & tuned towards comfort. The 2.0-litre TSI brings a signfiicant jump in power over previous gen

The new DQ series gearbox is better equipped at handling the high-torque nature of the motor but the big update is the shift-by-wire technology.

Simple and effective, the shift-by-wire system takes some time to get used to but is convenient and will be appreciated by buyers looking for comfort. Gear changes are seamless for the most part but aren't the quickest in the lower gears.

Very early to comment, but if it’s tuned towards comfort, IMO it is a bad move. For comfort there is always Superb. Hope Octavia is more performance focused like previous generations

At least the colours aren’t stripped from Style. Apart from the alloys, ambient lighting, virtual boot pedal, canton 12-speaker system — what else could be omitted from Style I wonder?

Maybe the leather seats, virtual cockpit etc?
