Thanks for answering!
Waiting period for creta is too high, till the time I would get the delivery of the car the prices of Octavia should have been out by then.
Just hopping that skoda wouldn’t overprice it and save this already dying segment

I have been driving a manual and I have no problem driving it but we generally keep our cars for 7-8 years and it would make more sense to get an automatic.
If you can stretch, it'll be a worthwhile stretch. Plus points will be: a European build quality and premium-ness, along with Octavia's driving pleasure. Creta won't be a distant match on these three points.

Eeeks, those alloys! . Looks more suited to a dolled-up Celerio. I am expecting a lively trade in aftermarket alloys.

Again, the EU's black interiors looks much better. Somehow the beige makes the dash looks odd with the steering sticking out. Hope it looks better in the metal.

The person who approved those alloy wheels should be immediately moved to a different department, it has completely ruined the side profile of the car. Luckily it is an easy fix though a costly one, Octavia owners will need to add another 50K for buying a nice set of alloys after taking the delivery.

New Octavia image displayed on Skoda India website

Skoda has displayed an image of the fourth-gen Octavia on the brand's Indian website. The teaser reveals the car's front end and its alloy wheels. It gets a typical Skoda grille with a chrome border, L-shaped LED DRLs, and multi-spoke alloy wheels.

Production of the sedan has begun at the company's facility in Shendra, Aurangabad. It is scheduled to be launched in the country later this month.

The vehicle is expected to be offered with features such as LED headlights, a floating touchscreen infotainment head-unit, a 2-spoke steering wheel and a digital instrument cluster.

The Octavia is likely to come with a choice of two turbocharged petrol engines. These include a 1.5-litre TSI unit paired with a 6-speed manual transmission and a 2.0-litre TSI unit which could be offered with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

Re: Scoop Pics! 4th-gen Skoda Octavia showcased in India

Not offering an automatic with the 1.5TSI, if true, is such a strange choice. I know this is what they did with the previous gen as well but it's odd given that the 1.5 is mated to an automatic transmission in other vehicles in the portfolio. Just a deliberate choice to force customers to upgrade.

Re: Scoop Pics! 4th-gen Skoda Octavia showcased in India

I wish we had the ability to actually 'build' the car with the drivetrain and accessory options that we wanted, like they can in the UK and in the EU. Might entail longer waits but would be great.

Add an easy 50K for a set of proper tyres like the PS4, P4ST or UC6. Who in their right mind specs a Euro saloon with GOodyear TripleMax tyres?

Won't cost that much if you replace them immediately on purchase of the car - at the max 2k per tyre - I've never paid more than 1.5k infact for upgrades to P3ST for my last 2 cars.

Which would you guys recommend? And, if one wants to upsize a bit?

If the tyre size is the 'standard' VAG size of 205/55/16, then the logical upsize is 225/50/16. However, the latter has been largely discontinued in India. Pre-COVID, you could still get old stocks of the Pilot Sport 3 (PS3) but I doubt anyone has those stocks now.

I think Yokohama may do 225/50/16 but they are rare tyres now.

Re: Scoop Pics! 4th-gen Skoda Octavia showcased in India

I've been a fan of the Octavia and always remain one. One of the best realistically ownable sedans for someone like many of us. For the first time - I actually felt that this car would need a wheel replacement!

Sudarshan-Chakra Or Mixer-grinder blade. These are the only 2 things that are coming to mind whenever I see these new alloys. Why Skoda?

Re: Scoop Pics! 4th-gen Skoda Octavia showcased in India

We were supposed to drive the Octavia this week, guys! Sadly, the drives got cancelled due to the even-sadder 15-day lockdown in Mumbai. Guess now the earliest we'll drive the car is in May.
