Is there a virtual event for Tiguan launch coming up at 10:30am? I do not see it mentioned anywhere. Can someone share the link? I did check their twitter handle and their website but did not find any information around the same.

2021 Volkswagen Tiguan launched in India at an introductory price of Rs 31.99 lakh.





- New bumper with piano finish inserts
- Wider grille than before
- New Matrix LED Headlights

Power comes from the 2.0-litre TSI motor with 187 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque on the Tiguan facelift. The model also gets all-wheel-drive as standard.





Test drives to begin in select cities from 10th December.



Bookings are now open while deliveries will begin from mid-January 2022 onwards.

They just don't understand the Indian market. It's death on arrival. I can see handful of people spending 37-38 lakhs on this. Suddenly, Compass is now VFM

That wasn't a nicely done event. The advertisement showed a LHD car. The screen said "upto 6 airbags" when they only have 1 variant. Not too keen on how they highlight the interior ambient lighting color options (Its not something I consider a feature). They havn't even managed to get test drive vehicles to anywhere but the 3 major cities.

In regards to the pricing its expensive. Citroen and Jeep will breath a sigh of relief. They could have really hit their sales if it was 5-10% cheaper. The cars in this segment need to be careful of going very near to X1/XC40 range, with discounts the gap is even smaller.

Well that's decides it, I will be booking a Tiguan, not right now but when the discounts starts flowing in after a while. Definitely a disappointment.

Introductory pricing. Please wait a few months for pricing to fall via discounts.

On a serious note though, in a world where the Octavia retails at 35L approx, a couple of lakhs more for a Tiguan from the same stable actually adds up in my mind. It also ties in to a likely retail price of 43-45 lakh for the larger Kodiaq - which effectively will be a couple of lakhs over the Superb.

I do agree that maybe 1.5 lakh lower would have been a sweeter spot but this is consistent with their pricing around other products in the similar range.

The older 5 seater highline was 30L ex showroom way back in 2017. The Allspace was 33L ex showroom.

It is but expected that the new facelifted version will be more than the 30L price tag of 2017 but lesser than the 33L of the Allspace.

So the 32L ex showroom should hardly come as a surprise to anyone given the prices of cars these days.

This means on road in Bangalore will be 40L. The Tiguan has no competition except the C5 aircross.

Also remember when the Tiguan was launched, it was compared more to the BMW X1 and GLA and Q3 than the Compass. IT's clearly a league ahead of the Compass.

With the X1 ageing and crossing 50L, The Tiguan does have a nice slot with no tough competitor to go against i.e. till the Kodiaq 2L TSI comes out in 2-3 months.

I don't understand the comparison to Compass!

A German car with with 2L petrol, 190PS, 320nm Torque, AWD and DSG will command way more premium over an American with 1.4L petrol, 161PS, 250NM Torque, FWD and DCT.

I have been using Tiguan since the first launch of it in India. I too had the impression that it was overpriced then. But I can tell you now, you get what you pay for.

Do I want Tiguan for less, oh..yes. It is my money and I would love to save every penny. But will I settle for a Compass over Tiguan because the former costs less, absolutely not!
