Omkar did represent Team-BHP officially and had a close look at the car. Hence the detailed observations.

However, as mentioned in the report - VW had the strangest embargo restrictions and did not allow pictures at the event. These were the only pictures forwarded by VW guys after the event. Hence the stark difference in picture content between this and the Kushaq preview, for example.

This post, courtesy Rushlane, shows exactly how restrictive the event was!

Sorry but I can't understand what you are trying to point out here. Ignis looks downright ugly while the Taigun is looking classy and mean at the same time.

Re: Volkswagen Taigun | A Close Look & Preview

Taigun, Tiguan, Karoq, Kodiaq, Kushaq what's with this similar sounding names thing ? How can an average non car person is going to differentiate and able to recognise these cars from each other ? No doubt cars will be class apart in their respective segments, but how many people would hold on their purchase for so long is debatable. The earliest VW and group get these cars on road, the better their chance to make some dent in market share of the Koreans.

Re: Volkswagen Taigun | A Close Look & Preview

The naming convention is confusing not only for customers but also for dealers, insurance companies, service centers, accessories shops, VAG vendors, and internal VW/Skoda employees themselves including the person/team who came up with such a preposterous decision. You have to be extra cautious when you talk about any vision IN product.

Somehow missed that. Now I am sorry that VW is being childish here to say the least.

The first thing that struck me when I saw the tail light unit at the back is "Boy, that's going to be expensive to replace when it cracks"!

Re: Volkswagen Taigun | A Close Look & Preview

Quite impressed VW went with the full light bar in the production version, after so many cars having dummy red strips to fake the real deal.

I wonder if this makes the Taigun the only car to sport a proper light bar this side of expensive Audis and beyond

VW should make a move and purchase the rights to "Tiago" from Tata Motors. How can any other car maker name it's car models like that?!

VW's strategy likely to fail, speaks all the time of going PREMIUM, hence expect it to be higher in price range than the leading SUV's in this segment.
A small looking car with all chrome..?

Only hope is, Skoda Kushaq to be priced sensibly.

He has used the ‘Premium’ word at least 20 times in the 10 min interview.

It looks like they are thinking of pricing the GT top end variant similar to T-roc. Boy, talk about being so far away from the reality. If they don’t price it well (undercut the competition) it would only help sell more Cretas and Seltos and help kill the VW brand in India.

Re: Volkswagen Taigun | A Close Look & Preview

Firstly, that's a dumb move by VW. No matter the reason.

Secondly, as most of the folks are concentrated on pricing, I'm rather interested in after-sales service and maintenance costs.

Two Models:

1) 1.0-3cy-AT/MT - seems completely localised i.e., 95%. So, does it cover the DSG AT also?
2) 1.5-4cy-AT/MT - Power version so is this engine also covers 95% localization?

We know VW and their group charges a bomb in the after-sales area.

Finally, the pricing VW wants to be competitive and at the same time saying we are a premium brand.

Will they be successful and can compete with Koreans.

The heat is on!!!

A most disappointing interview. He just uses words like "premium" and "VW DNA" repeatedly.

Doesn't have a good answer when asked about positioning and target market. Even when asked repeatedly.

Having answers like "meant for most of India" is not a target market

Also gives hints that price of T-Roc would be increased and follows it up by saying "I was just joking".

He wasn't joking. The interview was a joke.

Just when we all need clarity on what to expect from the half-launch (or is it quarter? or even a fraction!) of both the Kushaq and the Taigun, here comes this joke of an interview!

Mr.Gupta has just waffled his way through the whole session. Despite it being considerably boring, I paid particular attention to the section on differentiation from the Kushaq. But in the entire 75 seconds, he managed to NOT clarify one bit on how Taigun is different.

VAG really has to wake up to the fact that Indians, especially those who love their products, are tired and even offended by this irritating strategy of embargoes and half launches. If you have something good to offer, just bring it on, let the market feel it and let the show get on the road...

Re: Volkswagen Taigun | A Close Look & Preview

They had a live session for 30 mins just now in YouTube. VW are taking disappointment to a whole another level. It’s the same words again and again and again with no new information coming out. They chose the dumbest of questions to answer who no one cared.
