My source in Mahindra R&D told me that where a Tata would outsource its NVH refinement to Bosch for choosing an engine mount with a certain spec (i.e., "we want this level of vibrations or decibels at the most") along with other main components, Mahindra R&D folks do it all by themselves. They even spend time studying the effect of a particular method of welding a body part on the overall NVH levels. This way, by experimenting with different materials, welding techniques and components, and by continually road testing the effect of those product choices, they whittle things down to acceptable levels.

Given the tremendous amount of efforts they put in, and given the famously silent cabin of the Marazzo, it makes me appreciate their dedication to the process of developing their products. And yes, it makes their potential customers wonder why they take so long to bring their products out!

If the post in timesnownews.com new is correct, then XUV700 seems like will get an electric power train as well.
In fact XUV700, XUV300 & XUV900 all will get electric power trains it seems.

Don't think so! Even the XUV 3OO electric displayed two years back is yet to hit showrooms. And recent reports suggest it has again been postponed to 2022.

Even if there is a plan for an electric version of the XUV 7OO - we can expect it to be released a few years down the line only, IMHO.

Even I have my doubts, but it gives us a glimpse of Mahindra's road map on electric vehicles.

But surely a modestly priced electric XUV700 can compete with products from European manufactures, though can't expect the same experience.

re: Mahindra XUV700, now launched at 11.99 lakhs

I think the price range would be starting Rs 17 Lakh. This positions it well over the current xuv500.

The car would also be available in electric powertrain and it would be interesting to see the range and price of the electric version.

Looks like the XUV700 may come with the mild hybrid right at the launch
https://www.indiacarnews.com/news/ma...details-46754/
Article also speculates a possibility of Plug-in hybrid as well.

re: Mahindra XUV700, now launched at 11.99 lakhs

Looking at the Green plug over the XUV7OO, it would be more fitting for it to get a moderate hybrid system and not a strong one. I have two grounds for believing so:

1. Mahindra hasn't had any dealings with the electric powertrains and the two concept cars - eKUV1OO and eXUV300, that were showcased were not full fledged working models. So for Mahindra to test something like a Plug-in Hybrid on their flagship vehicle would be like bungee jumping from the highest level without trying it on the lower segments(eXUV300). Albeit cars lower in Mahindra lineup will be pure blue ones, they cannot, in my opinion, risk their flagship vehicle with a Plug-in Hybrid. ( I would love to see a XUV7OO, with a strong Hybrid system, the electric one for short drives and the ICE for those weekend long ones.)

2. Using a Plug-in Hybrid would essentially raise the price of the vehicle by a segment margin, given that they would've to source in a Li-ion battery pack and a powertrain to accommodate the electric as well as the ICE part, raising the overall price of the vehicle by a significant amount.

According to me, we would be getting a mild Hybrid system to attain a higher Fuel efficiency on both the petrol and the diesel options. And in the future we would be getting true blue SUVs as Mahindra has stated that their vehicles, being made compatible in this regard, could be fitted with electric powertrains in the future

re: Mahindra XUV700, now launched at 11.99 lakhs

Mahindra is supposed to come with a new LOGO on XUV700. Any update on this? Honestly, I don't like Mahindra's LOGO. Similarly, one can see the difference in the "T" of TATA and TESLA.
Moreover, XUV700 is supposed to launch in Q2 FY2022 i.e. July 2021-Sept 2021. Please correct me if I am wrong.
I can see Mahindra losing a significant number of customers to SAFARI & Hector TWINS as there is no competition in the market while XUV500 is too old to compete.
Mahindra while dropping more details about XUV700 should open the bookings of XUV700 ASAP.
Also, I got a message from one of Mahindra Dealer stating a discount of upto 1.93 Lakh on XUV500 models (attached screenshot).

Way the logo area is masked in the spyshots certainly confirms that the new logo will be indeed unveiled along with XUV700

After this 'Q2 FY2022 launch' statement, there was another official statement saying the launch has been pushed to October 2021.
Now that they have a new design head (Mr. Bose), I wonder if likes to see some tweaks (XUV700 being such a crucial product) before the car is launched, in which case it will definitely get pushed to 2022.

There is so much going on, in HYUNDAI ALCAZAR Thread. I'm tired of waiting for XUV700.
Mahindra lost many bookings to Safari & Hector twins, Now Alcazar will be another nail in the coffin.
Mahindra should consider this seriously and shall drop more official details on XUV700 ASAP(Features and Engine options, the way Hyundai did).

That's a close tie, Mahindra should price it in a very wide range
from 15 to 25 Lacs

XUV700 has become a subject of all kind of memes and jokes on the FB groups because of being perpetually on testing without much details about the launch. They should learn a thing or two from Skoda/VW who has mastered the art of creating buzz and holding a potential customers even with camouflaged prototypes.
