Pricing will depend on how Mahindra wants to play. Either the number game or exclusivety?. They have been in the game for long and think they would play it safe, i.e the middle path.

This will be neither cheap or expensive, this should create a buzz and make people contemplate. I feel people would pay a couple of lakhs extra over Alcazar or Safari. The base model will be really attractive at 19.99 or start at the current XUV500 top end model.

This pricing will be suicidal. You get Safari top end at Rs 20.36L ex showroom. Pricing the base variant at Rs 19.99L means a Rs 5.5L increase over the XUV500. I doubt anyone will even consider the car with that pricing.

I think a lot has been discussed about pricing but what is even more important is the design. From the spy shots, the car seems to look like an Mpv from the side which will not go well with buyers. Hope it has got enough body cladding and other elements to make it look imposing and stylish.

Not suicidal but more realistic - Lets talk OTR pricing, especially down south.

Here in Bangalore - Thar is ~18L, Scorpio is ~ 21L, XUV5OO is ~25L, Safari is ~27L.

In this segment 30L is going to be a reality very soon and Thar will touch 20L.

re: Mahindra XUV700, now launched at 11.99 lakhs

Had gone to a Mahindra showroom (Hyderabad) today to enquire about XUV 500. While discussing, enquired about XUV 700 as well and the SA said that training will start only in September and that details are still not there. Didn't find him convincing however gave the benefit of doubt.

Later on, when specifically asked for the waiting period of black XUV 500, he went back to check with another guy sitting in front of a system and after making a call, he informed that factory is not taking orders for any new black XUV 500 since production is ramped up for XUV 700. He said that white is ready but will need 10 days time to confirm black.

So, I guess, launch is imminent.

Curiously, the Mahindra social media handles have switched to saying that the XUV 700 will launch/debut '2021' instead of Q2 of this FY, like they used to till a few weeks ago.

Don't know what will happen in Q2 FY22 or 2021.. Car manufacturers these days do so much including name reveal, design reveal, debut, showcase, camouflaged exterior reveal, interior reveal, car reveal, car release, media drive, camoflaged media drive, full car reveal, price reveal, car launch but not booking, booking but not delivery blah blah... These teasers do not provide any info when it can be anything but delivery. The word launch may mean anything these days.. don't know what all to make out from their "coming soon". Just showing a picture of the car these days can also be called as "launch".

From whatever is visible on the tail-lamp, it appears to be bit quirky to me. Hope they did not get too adventurous there

re: Mahindra XUV700, now launched at 11.99 lakhs

I am not able to come to terms with the stance of the XUV700. In every shot, it looks like a long hatchback. I think it sits lower than the Crysta and will struggle in front of Safari that has a better stance. Safari's actual ground clearance is bad and nothing to mention compared to Crysta, but at least it looks like it has good GC. Hopefully, Mahindra will market the AWD well and position it as a true SUV compared to Safari. Looks will market itself, but the internal hardware will not.

In the 30L UV spectrum, Crysta is still the best vehicle. Even after decades, Tata and Mahindra, with all their SUVs, still can not beat the van from Toyota.

All this is fine Mahindra but please make sure that it doesn't fail even 0.0000001% of the time. Being able to open a door is the most basic operation. From what I see, this doesn't appear to be too convenient or ergonomic.
