re: Mahindra XUV700, now launched at 11.99 lakhs

The teasers are literally not doing anything even though they are running on televisions. Other than these forums, I haven't seen anyone talking about the teasers. The spy shots created more hype than all these combined. Hope the end product is good enough to be successful even with mediocre marketing. The images leaked disappointed me tbh, but I believe we will get a better idea only when official images are released. But one thing for sure, they have carried forward many design elements from existing XUVs like the fang shaped DRLs, XUV500 like windowline, typical Mahindra grille etc.

Actually I am beginning to feel that the tail lamp, even though bit oversized, is not actually bad. Problem is with the massive bulk they had to deal with because of the raising window-line (due to the step).
Now only major problem I have is with the angular treatment on the spoiler (which looks like it is made from folding sheet metal).
I think the overall design is livable and definitely much better than Xylo, KUV or even XUV 500.

re: Mahindra XUV700, now launched at 11.99 lakhs

Here are some pics that were forwarded in an XUV owners group claiming to have fixed some of the distortion.

The stance looks much better in these pics. The XUV always had good proportions, it's just some of the design elements that have let it down. I'd wait till I see the car in flesh before jumping on to conclusions.

Few observations:
1) The wheels have a different design compared to those seen on a test mule few days prior. One of these might just be a prototype. Or, one set might be for the top variant (W10) and the other for the next variant (W8). Or, one may be for the diesel and the other for the petrol.

The below alloy could be for the W6 and steel rims for the base W4. All this is pure speculation.

2) There have been numerous reports that the 7OO could potentially miss out on ventilated seats. While going through some pics in the AdrenoX teaser, saw a small icon below the airflow direction indicator. What does it indicate? I honestly have no idea. The indication is present only in one of the pics in the teaser.

3) There seems to be different driver profiles that we can feed in.

4) Wireless charging seems to be on offer.

Honestly, this thread reminds me of the original XUV5OO thread from 2011. We bashed the design left and right, later Mahindra went on to release it at a shocker of a price which made people rush to the showrooms. In flesh, it looked much better and many of us eventually ended up owning one . Hope someone from Mahindra is keeping an eye on this thread. Release the 7OO at a competitive price and many of us would happily lap it up.

I think we shouldn't jump into a conclusion just after seeing a random and most probably distorted image floating around.

From the images below it's clear that eventhough it doesn't look like a groundbreaking design, it is definitely a well proportioned car under that camouflage. The distorted spy shots from chakan plant portrays the upper part as way more bulbous compared to the lower part of the vehicle.

re: Mahindra XUV700, now launched at 11.99 lakhs

M&M have no consistent design language, they come up with the cleanly designed XUV 300 but also come up with KUV type abominations.

That said the pics look distorted, and we should just have patience till the final reveal. IMO M&M will come up with a well designed, good looking car but unlike the 2011 launch of the 500, this time they will drop the pooch on the pricing and overprice it.

That is because XUV300 was (mostly) designed by Ssangyong. The "fixed" images of XUV700 make it look a million times better! It also is a easy fix on mobile editing apps.

Let's not judge the car by this poor-quality image. The image is distorted and the pic ratio was changed by someone. Let the car come out of its satin-covered cloth first.

Notice the camo is still there only on the grill. This could be just a testing vehicle and they have put a roughly designed grill on it.

Mahindra has got a brand new design team and they have invested a lot in it.

XUV 700 looks beefed up version of XUV 500 with overdone Front & Rear Lamps. I donot know who will be the Target Customers of XUV 700 May be the people who are looking for a bigger XUV500.

The fixed images do solve this. The general Mahindra quirkiness like the color of the car and the maroonish ORVMs do look ugly, but the design looks good now.

Adding to your set of observations, dual zone CC is present, as can be seen two temperature outputs at the opposite sides of touchscreen.

Have the puddle lamps been deleted? I hope not, really like these small touches, and these should have be retained.

Re: The 2nd-gen Mahindra XUV500, coming in Q3-2021

As far as I know Mahindra cars as an owner of XUV 500 since 2015, one thing is sure, they will focus on bringing advance features in the XUV 700 and provide best in class cabin space. However, biggest concern is the never ending niggles. What is the purpose of adding features when they are not trouble free. When first time XUV 500 was launched many people bought it because of features and design. Very soon users started complaining about the niggles. The first facelift addressed many concerns and the second one addressed few more. The way wine tastes better with age, I think Mahindra cars also performs better after every facelift. I sincerely hope that XUV 700 comes out to be a much better machine.

re: Mahindra XUV700, now launched at 11.99 lakhs

This design doesn't look 'NEW' by any standards and comes across as an mid-life update at best. Those unwieldy headlamp and tail-lamps; Mahindra could have simply hung street lamps at front and traffic lights at the back. Whats the point of having LED bulbs if the assembly is the size of a halogen unit?

And those interiors, apart from that big horizontal display copied straight from Mercedes of the (soon to be) past, look very conventional and average. There is nothing tying the interior to the exterior.

They had a real opportunity here but then, one shouldn't expect much from Mahindra when it comes to designs. Right from Willys and Jeeps to Mercs, they have blatantly copied bits and pieces from them all the time. So much from the owners of Pininfarina.

Here's the actual prado-like grill with headlight, which I think will make it to the production. This angle makes it look awesome. the 'dual lines' of the headlight (DRL) integrating neatly into the grill as extension, the grilles having a similar 'dual line' thingy. But final proportions of the entire car will matter, Mahindra has to hit things right.

Source: Official Adrenox video. It was there in plain sight. Much better than leaked picture's grill.
