Yes. Scorpio was available with AT 4x4 and proper 4L/4H. I am few of the chosen one to have one of that configuration.

It's actually a good thing that the XUV7OO bears some resemblance to the XUV5OO. Totally abandoning a design language isn't really a good idea. With the relatively high status that the XUV5OO holds in the Indian market, I'm sure non enthusiasts will begin to warm to the car after seeing the similarities.

Exactly my thoughts. Complete change the design language maynot be appreciated by many prospective customers.
I was never a fan of Hyundai's decision to change the design language of their products after a few years. I owned 2016 model Hyundai i20 and loved the looks and proportions. But the latest abomination looks ugly and it didnt even come to my consideration set when i was planning to get my next car ( Got Polo 1.0 TSI without a thought and I am happy with it )

From the new leaked video and feature reveals by M&M, it seems like XUV700 is a facelift of XUV500 for external design and a new generation for internal design. Overall, it should be a successful product.

Thankfully this video shows it's not hideous looking as was perceived by the distorted images. However this doesn't looks like a revolutionary design too. More of a facelifted bigger XUV500, which isn't a bad thing considering Safari and Alcazar are also an extension of Harrier and Creta.

I saw the interior teaser and it looks really upmarket. Maybe better than the competition though we need to see the full production model first.

Tried zooming in on the new logo and enhancing it a little bit. Here's how it looks. Pardon the amateurish attempt.

Not very clear, but it looks similar to the Maruti logo. Car looks overdone but definitely has a road presence. And looking at the features being teased by Mahindra, it will be a crowd puller just like the XUV500.

I think Mahindra have done well in understanding the market - car packed to the brim with features and with a certain quirkiness to boot - exactly what is selling nowadays.

Is it just me who thinks this is mix of rexton/sansyong and xuv 500?

re: Mahindra XUV700, now launched at 11.99 lakhs

Though the video reveals convey that the car does look way better than the initial spy shots, I can't wait for the day when Mahindra designs get a little more finesse. To me, XUV700 still looks like it's trying to prove a point with too many details and design elements.

On the other hand, carrying a very similar design to the XUV500, I think many will appreciate that as well. It's clear that it's all new but at the same time it gives a sense of continuity.

Precisely! Believe me or not, when I was working for M&M, this "sense of continuity" was stressed by the top management all the time in both new generation XUV and Scorpio. Initially people felt that it will limit the designers as the scope is now narrowed down. But what management felt about the market was to have like how to make the XUV 5OO & Scorpio to shed the old skin/problems and evolve to this new age. Nothing else. All the design, performance, rugged DNA was to be carried over or amplified.

And yes, M&M needs to turn down their overdesigning habit a bit and focus on cleaner lines/curves and be elegant when it comes to premium segment.

I can't fathom why Mahindra is obsessed with the braces grille on all their models. However the car looks much better than the previous set of pics released excel for that grille.

Features and pricing will decide its fate. Ussually Mahindra know how to package their car. Current gen Creta and first gen XUV500 has proved that a mean looking car will sell well as long as it has lot of features. So I hope this will become a hit.
Agreed. The snaps at this video looks just fine, whereas the exact rear look wont be much catchy. XUV500 indeed created buzz when launched however not able to sustain the numbers consistently.
I think pricing will key player here. If they position it well below Creta & Safari then they can see some good numbers. Else i dont foresee any big attraction among consumers.

There's absolutely no chance that Mahindra prices it lower than the Creta, or even the Safari. Looks aside, as per reports Mahindra have the better engines, better interiors and better features as well. There's simply no logic in pricing it below the Creta, which I would say is a segment below the Safari and the XUV, with regards to engine specs, size and space.

In 2011, Mahindra launched the XUV5OO with pricing on par with the Innova, possibly more. It still sold like hotcakes for over a decade.

Well below Creta? With 190 bhp engines?

May be, they should position it below Baleno, get some very good numbers, and go bankrupt in three months.
