Lexus has released a teaser of the refreshed ES sedan. The Lexus ES facelift will have its global premiere at the upcoming Shanghai Motor Show, which will start from April 19, 2021.



Ahead of its unveiling, the company has released a teaser image showcasing the headlamp setup of the new ES facelift. As seen from the image, the ES will have headlamps featuring three square LED projector units with integrated LED DRLs below.

The new (2021) Lexus ES facelift is also expected to have a few changes to other parts of the exteriors as well. The new sedan is also expected to get updates and revisions to its cabin, along with some additional features and equipment.

The Lexus ES sedan is currently available in the Indian market as well. It is offered in two variants - ES 300h Luxury & ES 300h Exquisite with prices starting from Rs. 56.55 lakh (ex-showroom).

In India, the sedan is powered by a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol-hybrid engine producing a max power output of 218 BHP and paired with an e-CVT automatic transmission.

2021 Lexus ES facelift revealed

The new Lexus ES gets a new radiator grille, new-look headlights among some of the changes in the exterior.





Inside, the 2022 Lexus ES gets an 8.0-inch infotainment system as standard, and a 12.3-inch display will also be available for customisation.



The facelift version of the Lexus ES will be powered by the same engine options along with a new ES 300h F Sport. It combines all the usual F Sport features with an eco-friendly hybrid powertrain that claims to deliver 215bhp.

The updated ES will come standard with a new suite of Lexus Safety System + 2.5 driver assistance systems. It includes a collision avoidance system with an improved camera lens and millimetre-wave radar for increased response range.

2021 Lexus ES facelift sedan unveiled


The 2021 Lexus ES facelift sedan has been unveiled. The new facelift version of the ES luxury sedan comes with several subtle cosmetic changes, both inside and out.



Starting with the exteriors, the new Lexus ES sedan now comes with a newly-designed spindle grille, an updated set of LED headlamps looking much slimmer than before, standard 17-inch alloy wheels with a new design and subtle tweaks to the LED taillights at the rear.

Lexus has updated the interiors of the ES as well. The facelift version now comes with a large touchscreen head unit, said to be more intuitive than before. The dashboard has also been tweaked slightly, while the cabin now comes wrapped in new premium upholstery.



The luxury sedan is equipped with the Lexus Safety System +2.5. This offers tech such as collision warning, automatic braking system, emergency steering assist and a host of other pedestrian safety systems as standard.

Apart from this, Lexus has also introduced the F Sport trim on the ES 300h model. The new 2021 Lexus ES F Sport trim comes with a blacked-out grille and exclusive 19-inch black alloys. It features a boot-integrated spoiler and plenty of sporty accents on the interiors as well.



The 2021 Lexus ES F Sport trim also comes with a dynamic handling package, adaptive variable suspension and steering angle adjustments; among others.

Lexus is yet to announce the engine and transmission options on the 2021 ES sedan. However, it is expected to carry forward the same powertrains from the outgoing model.



The 2021 Lexus ES facelift is expected to go on sale internationally sometime during the end of 2021. The brand is expected to bring the 2021 ES to India as well. However, there is no official confirmation at this point.

What's with the front grille design Toyota - Lexus? It just looks hideous to me. Was shocked to see similar bad grille on the new gen Civic to be unveiled. May be it's just me :(

It looks like the designer looked at the expanded grille on the new BMW and hit the zoom lens icon on the Lexus grille just before releasing the new design.

I was definitely in the minority when I said I loved the new Lexus spindle grilles. But the wider spacing on the vertical bars has now just made it a tad too much even for me. Looks like Darth Vader!

Same here. Could excuse the initial models with the spindle grille as they were not designed with it in mind. But the next gen models like the present LS and LC wore the spindle grille in a tasteful way.

But this ES facelift reminds me of some variants of the Alphard and the Lexus LM which had truly toothy awful grilles (good grief they brought the Vellfire to India instead)

In my opiniated world, it resembles more with a Camry rather than the German luxury brands to be honest. Venerable Car and Driver magazine rates it 6.5/10 and ranks 10th in the category. No offense to anyone.

That has a lot to do with the fact that the Lexus ES is based on it's parent company's Toyota Avalon, which happens to be the ever so slightly larger sibling of the Camry.

What a beauty !!! If I was ever in the market for a luxury sedan, which is unlikely since I abhor luxury as a principle, I would pick up this over the disposable Germans which work for five years.

As for people who shame this car for lack of driver engagement I wonder where they live. The country where I live in is full of hazards, where traffic crawls most of the time. In such an environment I would value refinement safety and reliability over every thing else. Which the ES delivers in spades.
