re: Rebadged Maruti Ciaz to replace Toyota Yaris. EDIT : Named as Toyota Belta

Wonder if they would like to bring its 1.5L diesel powertrain back to life with this! But gosh its still not BS6 proven . While I agree to lot of comments about the timing of the launch and the name chosen for this car, I presume Toyota will be working on barely minimal overhead costs to keep this model alive in the market and honoring their JV agreement!

Well let's see how the public will react to this model.Glanza and Urban cruiser were different by design atleast and now not even a cosmetic change except the logo. This proves again that Toyota is not talking indian consumers seriously and I hope no one buy the Belta .

re: Rebadged Maruti Ciaz to replace Toyota Yaris. EDIT : Named as Toyota Belta

This is literally shame on Toyota to badge even though Toyota did not involve in RnD and manufacturing.

This leads to the state: Same car could be sold by many manufacturers making the customers fools.

People who buy consciously knowing its a Maruti car, no one could help

People who buy unknowingly, its cheating from Toyota

Anyways if this continues, there could be one day DUCATI pep+

I don't understand how this is cheating. A customer goes to Toyota showroom and buys a supposedly Glanza (rebadged baleno). He is getting what he came for, a Toyota brand car. Where it came from is not a concern to end user till the time Toyota provides service and warranty and everything.

No offense to Toyota owners. I am referring the strategy only and not the execution.
The answer exists in your quote. A customer comes to buy a Toyota brand car, but they are getting Maruti car.
And regarding service, any FNG could provide, does that means FNG could sell Maruti? Definitely not.

Let me ask you this question

Should Aston Martin be ashamed of their heritage and racing history when they sold the Cygnet?

Should SAAB be ashamed of their heritage and engineering when they sold the 9-2X?

Should Chevrolet, Holden, Opel, Vauxhall, and Honda be ashamed when they rebranded an Isuzu?

I will be very happy to hear your answer.

P.S. You can actually buy Ducati branded scooters if you want, and just so you know Ducati didnt spend much money in their R&D

Definitely they should. There could have been some or other reason to do. Every action remains in history, so does this. A bad thing can not become good because many have done in the past.

Again iterating, the execution is paying as the numbers speak. Glanza outsells Polo

This pic of Toyota dealership does not look from India. Have a look at cars in the reflection on the glass. Maybe a South African dealership IMO.

Toyota Belta revealed .

The made-in-India Toyota Belta sedan will go on sale in the Middle Eastern markets first, with an India launch later.

Quote:
Toyota has chosen to go with the name Belta, as this is what it calls the Yaris in markets like Japan, China and Malaysia.

Wow...what a beautiful camouflage for the badge. Kudos to Toyota for this. They should come up with a contest similar to what Skoda did. We could all participate and suggest wonderful designs.

They have saved heaps of money not just on R&D but also on mundane stuff like camouflage.

re: Rebadged Maruti Ciaz to replace Toyota Yaris. EDIT : Named as Toyota Belta

Was expecting at least different rim styles or colours, however, it looks like nothing has changed...

Saw a photo of the Belta interiors on the forum and noticed they were all black. I guess Ciaz customers who aren't a fan of the beige interior theme can opt for a Belta just for the black interiors

Jokes apart, the Ciaz/Belta yet remains a very competent package at the price, just hope that in the future there are more points to discern when choosing in between manufacturers. Even if Toyota/Maruti would have done something similar to what VAG did with the Vento/Rapid it would be good enough for most customers.

Doesn't it already exist here in India? It's called the Glanza
