Re: "Limited Edition" cars that were actually worth it

My cars so far have been "limited Edition"
VW Vento Allstar

It was based on Comfortline Variant and asked for a premium of Rs. 30K over it. The price was justifiable especially all additions being company fitted.
Vento Allstar had the below additions over a Vento Comfortline Variant:

Stylish Linas Alloy Wheels
Sporty Aluminium Pedals
Black and Grey Interior
Pentastripe Anthrazit Fabric Upholstery
Leather-Wrapper Hand Brake Lever
ALLSTAR Door Sill Plates
ALLSTAR Badge on B-pillar
New Blue Silk Paint Option (Mine was Carbon Steel)

No issues so fas as they were cosmetic changes. Faced a delay during tyre rotation where the mechanic said the tyres have a specific lock and a key (tool) is required to open them. It wasn't told to me during delivery. I had to escalate to VW and get it done from the dealer as he was asking for Rs. 5K for the key justifying it is specific to the car chasis number.

Figo Sports TDCI

It was a sportier version of the normal Figo. Highlights include the new honeycomb grille, blacked-out headlamps, 15-inch black alloy wheels, black contrast roof, black outside rearview mirror (ORVM) housings, door-decals with S lettering and a body-coloured roof-mounted spoiler.

The black grille and black headlamps make the Figo look sinister from the front. The larger 15-inch wheels along with the lower profile 195mm section Apollo Alnac 4G tyres gave the Figo a planted look that the standard variants miss out on.

So far haven't faced any issue. However due to the stiffer suspension, the lower arms and tie rods go kaput very fast. So far have changed it once under warranty under 20K KMs. It's a very handsome limited edition and truely stands out among the normal Figo Variants. I wish they had a company backed remap on the car, which I got it done from Wolf Moto.

My Figo has the 1.5 dragon engine, so Ford did do what you wished for, sadly the marketing team made sure this variant sunk without a trace.

Or the 200 limited edition RS 245, which ironically you can still buy new from a showroom

Who can forget the iconic Optra hatchback!! It was the same 1.6-litre petrol engine but was a bit detuned for the hatch. The motor produced about 101 Bhp and nearly 140Nm of peak torque.

Optra SRV wasn't actually launched as a special edition vehicle, but it still remains special for car enthusiasts. It was available for four years from 2006 to 2010.

@GTO the Polo Turbo edition is still available with Pune Bu Bhandari VW showroom here is in Pashan.

In case anyone is still interested to buy this limited edition car, just give them a call. They have a few units left in the inventory for a mouth-watering price. I enquired for the Polo Comfortline (mid) metallic (turbo-manual 6spd) variant which they are selling for Rs 8,40,000 on road, some another 20K discount if I book it before 31st.

I wish they continue the Liva TRD petrol with that 1.5 ltr petrol engine. I have driven the Etios Petrol and can surely say how good that LIVA with 1.5 could be. I have one owned by my neighbour in my community and I used to stop and gaze at it everytime when I go around that parking lot.

Re: "Limited Edition" cars that were actually worth it

The 2007 Hyundai Santro limited edition is noteworthy of mention. Addons on the car were ABS, alloy wheels, full flip and fold rear seat bench and a interior with wine red door inserts and seats. Lovely car!!

I owned one from November 2007 to June 2014. Unfortunately I don't have photographs of the car nor am I able to find any on Google!!

Re: "Limited Edition" cars that were actually worth it

How could we forget the 1st Anniversary Edition of the Tata Indica Vista? My own trusted steed for 4 years. Never let me down but unfortunately could not bear the quality issues and niggles, so had to move on.

This was the Quadrajet. It came with:
- 14 in 8 spoke alloy wheels (A big thing in 2009)
- Smoked chrome trim and badging (which lasted 6 months before they developed black patches and was replaced with the normal ones under warranty)
- Tan leather door and dashboard trims
- White faux leather seats with '1' badge on the head rests (which started flaking completely in 2 years and was replaced by me in tan/black colour to match the door and dashboard. Genuine leather this time)
- Black plastics instead of the usual lighter colour
- 2 tone paint job with contrast roof and ORVMs

It was a car with droolworthy looks at that period in time. Here's the thread that prompted me to take a look at it and finally decided to buy. It was my first ever car

Re: "Limited Edition" cars that were actually worth it

COROLLA ALTIS AERO- It was launched in mid 2012 with redesigned front bumpers, boot spoiler, new alloys, reupholstered seats, some Chrome garnishes and 2 additional colours. I remember seeing a black one on the road and found it quite eye catching. I also loved the jewel like tail lights on this model of the Corolla. Only 500 units were made of the Aero.

Chevrolet had launched Manchester United Edition of Beat some years back. That was with heavy vinyls and would have attracted some football fans.

Re: "Limited Edition" cars that were actually worth it

Unless a car came with different engine/gearbox, suspension, added safety kit or unique set of features like paddle shifter, sunroof, ventilated seats etc. , cars with sticker, paint and emblems job won't fit this thread in my books. Fiesta 1.6S, Abarth Punto, Crysta touring sport manual(6speed gearbox), Octavia VRS, all deserve a place in this thread.
