2021 Isuzu D-Max V-Cross & Hi-Lander launched; prices start at Rs. 16.98 lakh

Isuzu has launched the BS6-compliant D-Max V-Cross and Hi-Lander at Rs. 24.49 lakh and Rs. 16.98 lakh respectively. The V-Cross is available in two trims - Z and Z Prestige.

2021 Isuzu D-Max Hi-Lander

The Hi-Lander is a slightly premium version of the standard D-Max S-Cab. However, compared to the V-Cross it looks pretty utilitarian.

The Hi-Lander comes with a sportier front fascia with a redesigned front bumper and halogen headlamps. It gets black ORVMs and rides on steel wheels.

On the inside, the pick-up truck comes equipped with manual air-conditioning and a 4-speaker audio system.

On the other hand, the V-Cross features a more premium look. It comes with LED projector headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights, fog lamps, LED tail lamps and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Some of the features offered in the V-Cross include automatic climate control, cruise control, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment head-unit and a rear view camera.

The 2021 Isuzu V-Cross and Hi-Lander are powered by a 1.9-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that produces 161 BHP @ 3,600 rpm and 360 Nm @ 2,000-2,500 rpm. The engine is paired with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. The four-wheel-drive variants get a shift-on-the-fly system with a high torque mode.

2021 Isuzu D-Max V-Cross & Hi-Lander ex-showroom prices:

  • Hi-Lander - Rs. 16.98 lakh
  • V-Cross Z 2WD AT - Rs. 19.98 lakh
  • V-Cross Z 4WD MT - Rs. 20.98 lakh
  • V-Cross Z Prestige 4WD AT - Rs. 24.49 lakh

Re: 2021 Isuzu D-Max V-Cross & Hi-Lander launched; prices start at Rs. 16.98 lakh

While the pricing is in the ballpark of what a lot of people were suggesting, I feel it's too much for Isuzu to get volumes. Interestingly, the 2WD AT is cheaper than the 4WD MT. It's good value (relatively) for people searching for a lifestyle vehicle.

Furthermore, the reason I can't digest this pricing is because it's not even the latest generation. The latest generation has a great ride quality (from what I have heard) and a modern cabin.

The only upside is that this pricing makes the Thar look good!

EDIT: You know the marketing team is really trying when the brochure has full pages talking about the 'dark grey grille' and saying that it 'looks great'.

The V cross definitely looks more premium with more tech and conveniences on offer.

Colors on offer for the V cross. Seriously there are more options here than what some mass market cars offer ! The Hi-Lander misses out on the Silky white pearl here.

Why can't they still get over that leaf at the rear? So modern, yet so medieval !

Well Done Isuzu! Remarkable to see no traction control, Electronic Stability Control and Hill Descent Control in a vehicle costing almost 25 big ones! Heck, how much can you save by removing cruise control?

If only the highlander was available in AWD, there could have been a good number of enthusiasts who would be interested in it, doing it up to suit their needs and fancies.

I really like the utilitarian look of the Highlander model. Too bad that it doesn't come with 4WD - that would have been a great option on a budget.

I'm not a big fan of the excess chrome treatment they have given to the V-Cross version, looks garish and out of place on a rugged pick-up truck.

Agree! Makes you want the Isuzu so much. And you need such ads to convince people as it's logically hard to justify the pricing.

This is the best ad I've seen in the past few months after the Safari.

24 lakhs for Automatic seems high to me and then it is for sure that within the next 2 years or by 2022 end, the 3rd Gen will be released in India. This is me being ambitious.
20 Lakhs for manual is not that bad a deal though this does not comes with Locking diffs. Just waiting for Teambhp review on the automatic.

Insane pricing overall . When we tested the V-Cross in Sept 2016, the 4x4 MT cost 12.80 lakh ex-showroom. An almost 50% increase for what is a flopped car, and one which has its next-generation on sale overseas? Man, this makes the expensive Thar seem like the deal of the century.

When I got my Vcross BS4 2.5L in 2020 , it was from the last lot that came to the dealership. The sales guy told me the price will be hiked for BS6 version but this is too much and nothing new has been introduced in the vehicle except BS6 complied engine. Back then in 2020 1.9L automatic was under 23 Lacs on road Chandigarh .

Isuzu just made Hyundai Creta look like a value for money car. Damn! Do they think they are so popular like the Toyota innova crysta or fortuner to keep increasing the pricing and expecting it to sell? Gosh!

30 lakhs, and look at those interiors

It's a Workhorse, and this is exactly why it needs leaf springs at the back.
Talk to any pick up truck owner who uses it for what it's meant to do, and they would tell you the importance of leaf springs in these vehicles

Re: 2021 Isuzu D-Max V-Cross & Hi-Lander launched; prices start at Rs. 16.98 lakh

The premium for AT and 4WD is insane. The MT 4WD is priced Rs. 4 lakhs more than the MT highlander 2WD. The 4WD AT is 5 lakhs more than the 2WD AT!

In comparison, the Thar AT was 80,000 more than the MT when launched a few months ago! It is a proper torque converter automatic very similar to the one on the V-Cross. So Isuzu is charging 5 times as much as M&M did with the Thar on the addition of an AT.
