re: Next-gen Maruti Alto (Y0M) caught testing in India. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 3.99 lakh

Maruti has also become greedy like Honda. Honda overprices their products and then offers discounts, after the initial euphoria. But this has not worked out for the Company. Even though, they've some of the best products, the Company has failed to do decent numbers in the last 2 decades. The only product, which has worked out is City.

As someone who got a S-Presso when it was launched back in 2019, I can relate to it. The thing was I didn't even bother to check out any other car like the Santro or Tiago as we checked out the Celerio (older one), Wagon-R and the Alto 800 along with the S-Presso. Each had a little different quality. Note that Maruti never keeps the dashboards similar looking of all entry level cars. Each car drives and behaves a little differently on road. And buyers in this category are pretty choosy, just like my dad simply 'wanted' the S-Presso even though the Celerio was better looking and had some discounts.

Wow !! This looks super cute. I am sure this is going to be instant hit and will sell like anything. If Maruti can deliver, it can easily sell 25K per month. There is almost nothing available currently in entry level car market as such. Alto is proven name and will be smash hit again.

A more balanced view of the new k10. Ofcourse, with tacky wheel covers courtesy Maruti-Suzuki.

The presence of S-Presso's MID means that the K10 is going to lose the Tachometer. A big thumbs down in my opinion.

Unless of course, they have figured a way to add a tacho to the MID.

This would be really a shame, considering that the last generation K10 had a tacho. The S-Presso speed is long overdue for an upgrade and with an added digital Tacho.

The tyres look very puny and the huge wheel well makes it look weird. Otherwise it is a well rounded package for someone looking for city-runabout vehicle to do daily errands.

The front looks very ugly but sides & back looks are very good.

I think the best looking Alto(s) are the Type-2 (800cc Facelift) & K10 1st Gen.

The Alto's competition is the Kwid, which doesn't look half bad.

Will the Alto come with a 6 air bag variant?

For all the valid safety concerns that it has, I think car makes the most sense for young urban Indians who want a bang for their buck and will mostly travel within the city. There is nothing that beats the pep, AMT convenience and the frugality of this engine coupled with short wheel base.

Also its a tiny foot print if you wish to care about space and pollution too. And the fact that it looks a lot like the more expensive Celerio is a boon for this car.
