Yes it's an commercial shoot

Car is quite basic in terms of features, will surely sit close to the old one. No rear wiper, no alloys, indicator on fender, pull type door handles, single reverse light! Couldn't catch a glimpse of the front.

I can see ALTO written along with 800 in the left side. There were recent rumours regarding revival of Alto K10. Is this possible that the same car gets a 1.0 Litre engine variant which they rename it to Alto K10?

Voah. That is some scoop!!!

Just like the present Alto, looks like an Indian version and nothing to do with JDM Alto. Hope it is a scaled down version of the Celerio. Yes. It may look boring, but inoffensive. But by the looks of it, dread it would get a 'surprised/gaping' front end. And please design a usable dashboard, not some plastic slab to hold a touchscreen.

Maruti. Let the Alto800 carry on with the entry car duty and the Spresso satiate the high rising craze. Let the K10 be a go-kart rocket with the K10 engine. With a bright yellow colour option to boot.

Okay, being realistic. No yellow colour will be there and the K10 would have been tamed with the 'C' treatment.

Edit: With horror I realise that this one vehicle could change the pricing across segments for this decade. Just imagine the barebones basic version priced at 4.99 lakhs ex-showroom. Could push prices of all segments up slowly and with the new Brezza pricing, I don't trust Maruti much in this aspect.

My assumption here is that Maruti will wait for the price of the C3 to be announced, and see how much Citroen overprices/underprices the C3, to then allow them to adjust the margin on how much they can overprice the Alto at. Car and gas prices nowadays are ridiculous

If that is the new Alto (looks like a mini-Celerio from the back), what is this car supposed to be?

Awesome scoop giri1.8!

One thing I hate in the S-Presso is the centrally located gauge cluster. Looking at these spy shots, I can hope that the Alto doesn't have this ridiculous arrangement.

re: Next-gen Maruti Alto (Y0M) caught testing in India. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 3.99 lakh

Next-gen Maruti Alto to launch by late August 2022.

- The all-new Alto is expected to get two engine options, Maruti could introduce the new K10C 1.0-litre DualJet petrol engine for the Alto. This engine develops 67hp and 89Nm, 19hp and 20Nm more than the outgoing car’s 796cc engine, which is also expected to be available in lower variants

- The all-new Alto will launch by the second half of August, before the prices for the Grand Vitara SUV are announced.

re: Next-gen Maruti Alto (Y0M) caught testing in India. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 3.99 lakh

Looks like Maruti does not know what to do...
A few days ago they had made a statement that they may stop producing low-cost hatches due to the 6 airbag rule, and now this!
Back to the topic, if my speculations are right, this will be launched around August (presumably 15th) and it looks like it will have both 0.8 litre and 1 litre engines since there are two cars. Hope they don't mess up on the pricing. Something like 3.49-4.99 lakh for the 0.8 and 3.99-5.49 lakh for the K10 will be okayish. This could revive the segment if well-specced and VFM.

re: Next-gen Maruti Alto (Y0M) caught testing in India. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 3.99 lakh

IMHO, maruti is in either of these phases.

1. Vitara hits venue and sonet hard in the market with its premium styling and meagre engine and pricing. This new alto hits the lower end of the spectrum, opening up a new "congested hatch" type of a segment in the market and reviving the whole, Honda Brio, Tata Nano type cars. (if you note, no company is willing to make these kinds of cars. Even s-presso bombed hard. There is ignis, which calls itself an suv. No one is ready to actually make a car which is an entry level mini hatch.)

2. They get the whole shenanigan wrong, with Vitara, by giving 'subpar' engine power at the cost of a Venue or scaringly, maybe Seltos. This new alto appeals to no one because of the design or its USP. The alto might also have all the unnecessary ICE units, and other modern stuff just to hike a couple of lakhs.

If you see what i am trying to say, its actually simple.

It all depends on the pricing. If they acknowledge what they are putting in the market, and sell it that way, with a proper pricing mechanism and well spaced variant list for both these vehicles, Maruti might even take over a couple of segments in the market.

The thing here is, the market seems to be edging towards these types of cars, those "compact SUVs" and "meagre sedans" and "entry hatches"

Many people are willing to buy a new bare bones car at ~3 lakhs, as their first car. I am not sure about this fact, but with the Electric revolution on the way, this seems plausible.

I might be way off the mark here too, however, its just a small hunch.

From the grill, bumper impressions I see the front of existing Alto. This could be Alto K10 that is being tested. Let's see. MS may not add AMT to F8D. So I'm expecting something like good old Alto K10 with MT, AMT here.

If I am not wrong, Vitara is not a competitor for Venue or Sonet, but Creta and Seltos. And pricing also expected as par with Creta and Seltos.

Brezza is there for Venue and Sonet.

Wooohoo! No "el-cheapo" centrally located gauge cluster like the S-Presso.

Also, It looks like they have jacked up the suspension to give it more ground clearance a-la Slavia/Virtus. Not sure if looks like that because of the angle of the photo.

It is due to angle of the photo. Check the front tyre. But it does look more than current gen.
